So now onto my review of the 2020 Magnitude SV34 4x4 that we walked through yesterday.
Overall we were impressed with the coach given it is in the lower end of the price range for the Super C's. It certainly is appears to be a step up in quality and fit & finish over the regular Thor Class C's.
Things we liked.....
1) Floor Plan - For the two of us and the dog, the SV34 is really an ideal floor plan for us. Our goal is to fid a coach where we could spend 3 - 4 months continuous in it and we think this floor plan would work.
2) Bathroom - The shower floor was solid and shower large enough to take a shower without banging into the walls and door constantly. The throne was also solid with plenty of room around it. My wife wqs thrilled the bathroom sink was not under a cabinet where she would hit her head like our current coach. Liked the sliding door.
3) Bedroom - We like the Tilt-a-View King Bed. The size was good for us and it is great if you want to read or watch TV in bed. It is nice to have a nightstand on each side with outlets and storage. There appears to be plenty of drawer and closet space and room to move around. Liked the sliding door as well.
4) Kitchen - There was a wide variety of storage. The microwave / convection oven was larger than our current coach and I liked the combo of gas burners and an induction cook top. The solid countertop was very nice and there was plenty of prep room; especially with the cover over the dual bowl sink. The Whirpool residential fridge was huge, even the freezer having an ice maker in it.
5) Living Space - While I know a few of you are a big fan of the two slides opposite of each other, we felt the single slide offered enough room for two people. If you routinely have more than two people in the coach, I can see where two slides opposite each other would be a must. This unit did not have the theater seating but we thought the love seat was surprising comfortable. The dinette was comfortable enough for having an indoor meal. The overhead bunk area was huge and much easier to access than our Outlaw. It is also rated for 500lbs and appeared very sturdy.
6) Cab - The F-550 cab is a huge upgrade over the E-450! Good use of space and technology. I liked the rear view mirror was actually a display for the rear and side view cameras. It also had a standard Ford radio w/ Sync, CarPlay, etc. The diesel engine was surprising more quiet than I had expected and very smooth at idle. It didn't seem too difficult to get in and out of the cab from the coach area with the middle part of the overhead bunk removed.
7) Odds and Ends - I liked the Touchscreen control panel and the associated controls around the coach. The genny was quiet and smooth and provided plenty of power to run both A/C's and other accessories. My wife was thrilled the coach has an outdoor kitchen.... it is very basic with a small sink, small fridge and some storage... but it is the only Super C we have found with an outdoor kitchen of any sort. The there is plenty of outdoor storage and the doors all seem to open and close smoothly. The padded ceiling was a nice touch inside the coach and the general quality was not high end but pretty good. It was a nice bonus that the solar prep includes the controller and it is already wired to the house batteries. Thor also used two 6V batteries and there is room in the battery compartment to add two more. I really like the full paint job too versus the use of decals that will fade and peel over time.
Things we didn't like....
1) Bedroom - The closet doors were a bit wobbly when opening and closing. I think their construction is too light for their size and also having the weight of mirrors mounted to them. My wife also didn't like that the bed could no lie flat with the slide closed.
2) Kitchen - The storage for forks, knives and utensils was practically useless given how small the drawers were (much like our current coach and others we have seen). My wife would have preferred a third gas burner instead of an induction cooktop (I actually like it).
3) Dinette - There is a drawer under each dinette seat but they are relatively small and felt flimsy when opening and closing them.
4) Living area storage - While there is a decent amount of storage in the living area and the cabinets are decent, some of the cabinets are a bit small and not the best layout.
5) Cab - Didn't like the drink holders on the floor between the captains seats. Our dog is usually lays between our seats when we are driving.
6) Fit & Finish - I think the Fit & Finish is generally a step up over our Thor Class C but they still use the same crappy wall paper and plastic corner trim on the walls.
I think that's the main observations. I will add more if I missed anything major.
Of course we told them we are a year out from buying but they are trying to work up a deal we can't refuse to buy it now. I gave them all of my current coach info so they can work up the numbers with a trade.... so we'll see. I can say their published sale prices are generally the same or on the lower end of other dealers with the same coach.
Our original plan was to hopefully find a left-over 2020 this time next year but since it is the end of the season in the north, maybe they will surprise us.... and we will be accelerating our timeline once again!!!!
Regardless of what happens, I will say that General RV now has my attention with their Same Day Service policy for critical coach issues..... especially since they have several locations.
