F550 Factory Security Alarm, Not Good

On my new XG32, the Factory alarm gets set when you lock the doors of the cab. So if the cab is locked, and you open or close the RV door, or it gets a minor bump like the bathroom door shutting, the horns starts blarring and the lights start flashing. Try that in the middle of the night in an RV park with tent campers and others.

The computer on the dash only gives the option of Perimeter or Normal for settings.

We had to keep the cab unlocked when campting in order to prevent it from happening while in the RV Park.

Anyone know what to do?

Do not lock the doors with the key fob. Get out of truck and leave doors unlocked. Go into camper and manually push the locks down on the doors from inside.

Alarm

I locked the doors with the stems by the window and the alarm will not go off when inside motor home.

Unfortunately it is a Ford feature......

In Normal Mode it uses the motion sensors in the center headliner console. People think they are little lights but they are motion sensors.

If you switch to Perimeter Mode, the alarm is only triggered when opening the cab doors.

After a couple trips it becomes automatic to just press the steering wheel button to enable Perimeter mode when you turn off the ignition.

I was wondering about that. I wonder if you could put tape over the sensors. I also noticed that if we slammed the RV door, it would go off. I will play around with it and see. I spoke to a friend and service writer at the local Ford dealer and he said to lock with the pins from the inside like others have suggested.

It wasn't fun having the thing go off this weekend on our first night out. I am going to see if blocking the sensors will do the trick. A little black tape and some science project stuff.

Does it ever go off with the coach door shutting? I was just wondering if it is all motion or impact/jarring?

These chassis don't have perimeter plus, which is an add-on to include a shock sensor. I imagine it's just seeing you move when coming in the coach. The sensors only have about a 5ft range, so movement from the entry forward will set it off.

I like the motion alarm versus disabling it. If someone breaks into your motorhome.... which has happened to some people.... the alarm goes off the moment they walk up the steps and they usually go running before they do
more damage or steal anything.

Once I read the Ford manual, it was easy to select the Perimeter Mode after shutting off the ignition when I didn’t want the Motion Sensors to go off.

I wonder if I had a velcro patch to put over them when I'm in the coach? I am afraid I will forget to select perimeter and wake up the RV park?

You could try that.....

But I had the same worry at first but after a couple trips it is automatic and just part of the "setup" process when we get to our destination. As soon as I level and put out the slide and I turn the engine off, I see the message on the display and I switch to Perimeter.

Our Westie stays in the F150 often by herself

Couple times running back to disable alarm and now it is automatic to select perimeter

I have been going in and pressing down the stems to lock up. I thought with the "perimeter" there was still a motion alarm. Good to know I can just change the setting when I shut the truck off. I wonder when you leave the camper for the day if you press the fob to lock the doors if it will reset the alarm for the truck so if someone enters the coach it will sound?

You can unlock and lock the doors with the fob if you had it set for Perimeter only without it reverting to the full motion sensing alarm. However, once you turn the key to power on the dash, it will revert back to the full motion sensing alarm. You will need turn off the ignition and reselect Perimeter.

Judge is right, I would not disable anything as you might want to use it in the future. We have the BH35 and a Dachshund and she has set the alarm off a couple of times then when the unit was in storage and I forgot to place the alarming Perimeter mode a moth set it off and the storage lot called me one late afternoon.
After that I just placed electrical tape over the 4 sensors in the cap overhead console and have fixed the issue all together. If you forget to change the alarm setting no issue as the sensors are covered. If I feel I want the full alarm and done have the dog in the coach then I can quickly remove the tape and have the entire alarm system.
Have not had a false alarm since dong this

F550 alarm

Our 2021 Thor Omni sv34 did that also.

When you turn off the engine, look at your dash board. Push the down arrow on your steering wheel one time.

this changes the alarm to perimeter. the alarm will not go off then.

First time our alarm went off it caused our Jeeps alarm go off to. cause quite the comotion.

Your interior what? Lights? How does your post relate to this thread? If it does relate, have you tried the fixes posted above?
