House battery draining while plugged in to shore Power

I have been having trouble recently with my house batteries draining or just not charging while plugged in to shore power. It is my understanding that when plugged in to shore power the batteries should always be charging or on standby and the power to the RV should all be from the power outlet. Any suggestions?

What Year/Make/Model RV?

Your understanding is only correct if the USE/STORE switch (Master Power switch) is in USE (ON) so that the battery disconnect is not open. The disconnect has to be shut for the batteries to charge from SP. There is no automatic shutting of this disconnect.

Make sure the batteries have water in all the cells.

Make sure the Converter is running. Ours is under the bed and all are fed from a dedicated circuit in the 120v panel (check for tripped breaker). When on shore power the Converter turns 120v to 12v to power the 12v house loads AND to charge the battery(s). In addition to the 120v breaker - there is a breaker breaker on the 12v charge wire that charges the battery(s). You can tell if your Converter is working if (while on shorepower) you turn off the battery switch (storage mode) and you still have lights - your Converter IS working.

Batteries not charging

Thank you for these suggestions. I will check each of them. I have been wondering if it is a convertor problem. It is a 2020 Thor Freedom Elite with LifeBlue lithium batteries in it.

IF you have the stock converter it is probably not configured to charge Lithium batteries and may be the source of poor capacity as the stock converter may keep the Lithium batteries as low as 50% charged.

power converter not charging

This happened to me and I went through this check list:

https://camperfaqs.com/camper-batter...hen-plugged-in

It turned out to just be a tripped circuit breaker for the power converter. Check this in your 120 circuit breaker panel.
