There are air lockers available for the axles. I have ARB airlockers in my Jeep Rubicon. Locks the front and rear at the push of a button with the added bonus of giving you a decent air compressor. This trip started in the Catskills of NY with about 3in of hard packed snow on the ground. Got stuck 4 times coming out of a 100ft driveway. Was a total PITA. Cant wait for forum members (sportcoupe) to tell me how I did it all wrong and should have done it his way.

to be clear, different widths are ok, height is what matters as far as hurting anything.

Sounds like fun, I always wanted lockers front and rear. Next time only use driveways 105 feet of 95 feet. lol

Yes I am defending the trucker. You forced him to pass on the right. That is a ticket in some states.

If you were in the correct lane, this post wouldn't exist.

Marine, there is a tree in a forest somewhere in the world whose sole purpose in life is to replace the oxygen you are wasting.

Our rims are 6”, if you look at the 245 size tire, it says the smallest rim size should be 6.75”. I was going to go up a size, but couldn’t find a 245 that would fit a 6” rim.
Good luck. I put Toyo M655 on ours. Good in loose sand and mud here in Florida.

awesome and thank you! how are they on the road and are they noisy? I figured I'd have to buy larger rims so no issue for me. What part of Florida? You boondock on any beaches?

Do you have any info on this rig?

That wheel setup is overkill for us, but any details you have on that build would be greatly appreciated - we need something between that and stock.

I swapped out my front coils with 2" lift coils but we still bottom out our Magnitude way too often and have exercised the 4x4 in snow and on dirt roads many times. I didn't realize single rear was an option too - that would help tracking when we're driving in snow.

Wheels:
- How did he switch from dually to single wheel? Any load or tow issues after?

- Tire specs?

Lift:
- What kit and how much lift? I was thinking of going with a Kelderman kit once we kill these tires and just swapping tires, rims, suspension all at once.

Thanks for the help, I hope you all cross paths again!

One of my favorite quotes applies to you.

"Do not correct a fool or he will hate you. Correct a wise man and he will appreciate you.

My point is, while I am glad you were not hurt, is that the only thing you "seem" to have learned from this experience is that you need to carry a full size spare or get better tires and in your mind you did nothing wrong.

They do whine a bit, but we got used to it. Larger rims are the way to go. I would have to redo my right side rear fender (Thor put it in a little crookedy) to give the tires clearance for the larger rim.
We are currently in Cape Canaveral and haven’t done beaches but have driven through some deep mud and deep loose sand-trucked right through

you should re-read your favorite quote and do a little introspection. Im former law enforcement. I was an MP in the Army and then LEO in NY before doing what I do now. I know the law quite well thank you. Your understanding of the law is quite wrong and its laughable that you persist. He's not allowed to pass on the right the way he did. What is absolutely unbelievable is that you insist despite neither having been there nor having any knowledge of the situation. The only fool here is you and I will not argue any further with you over it.

A few pictures of F-550 converted to Single Rear Wheels with Off-Road tires. Those military tires are probably less than ideal for highway use, but that’s not what they are meant for.

Wheel design are “reversible” to adjust for track width — which would drive me nuts having to look at them.

Note these tires are ~ 41 inches diameter.
