Mag/Omni Outdoor Kitchen Modification

Considering reworking the outdoor kitchen on our SV34 and removing the refrigerator. Once the fridge is gone there would be plenty of room for other things such as a bar, cabinets, shelves, toaster oven, small Blackstone on a pullout… We just don’t use that fridge enough and it takes up a lot of useful space. Anyone have pictures of outdoor kitchen remodels?

Be interesting to see what some people have done.... if anything..... but I wish there was more room in the outdoor kitchen.

Removing the fridge for us is a non-starter. We use it a lot. It saves us a lot of trips back and for drinks and temporarily storing food for we are cooking outside and saving some trips back and forth.

I also think putting a pull-out grill there would be tough because the kitchen hatch is going to be above it and I think the heat plus grease would not be good for it.

Be interesting to see if anyone has made some good mods for the kitchen.

Good point on the grease/heat from a stove Judge, I personally like to do grilling away from the coach anyway. I am a big fan of the sink and use it often while outside but I don't like the need for the sink pump. Our outdoor fridge is usually stuffed with important things like beer, soda, water bottles and wine so I would miss that. I was more curious as to what others might have done but even google and youtube search turn up very little. Must not be as popular as I thought it might be.

We use the outdoor sink a lot as well. The pump for the outdoor sink is needed because the drain is lower than the plumbing to the grey tank.

The real issue is the limited area. They couldn't go further left because of the fresh water tank. They couldn't go further right because of the shower. They could have gone a little deeper but not sure that would buy you much.

Do you know if all Mag/Omni outdoor sinks fill with shower water even with the drain pushed down? It doesn't overflow but fills to about 3/4's, not a show stopper but annoying.

There is a backflow valve that prevents that from happening. Thor installs them backwards from time to time and then water from the shower fills the sink.

Unfortunately, you are one of the lucky ones who had it installed backwards.

There is not a lot of room to work but if you take off the small door under the sink, you may be able to get to it and fix it yourself by reversing the valve. I put an arrow where the valve is located.

Thanks Judge, I needed something to do on our next outing... Appreciate the diagram, I'll check it out next week.

Here is a better view of the outdoor sink plumbing and the backflow valve. Looks like they used hose clamps so it should be fairly easy to get it apart and flip it around.

I took it apart on the last trip and inspected everything. The valve was installed properly, there were some loose clamps on other connections but otherwise all looked good. I cleaned everything up and reinstalled. Didn’t really have a chance to test but I’m guessing the valve is not functioning properly. Now I have something to do on the next trip…. I’ll replace the check valve, the original seemed chinsey to me.

Wouldn't surprise me if it is a crappy Chinese part not working properly but the valve is your bogie. If that directional valve does not seal tight, you will get shower water backing up into your outdoor kitchen sink.

You should be able to find a better quality replacement at Home Depot or Lowes. I have used this type of backflow valve in a gray water septic tank that worked well for years.
