Thor and General RV have been terrific. Again several issues (and we have one more that cropped up on our trip) ALL REPAIRED without question.
We even get a call from General after repairs to make sure they are OK and received a call from Thor asking if everything was OK with our new RV.
Great service from Thor (Ill.) and General RV (Birch Run, MI). [Have never paid anything for service 2 months after purchase...]
Satisfied Customer (Already been on 4 trips in 2 months - 8 states!)
I love General RV's service. I had the poor experience to use Camping World, and a couple of others and all I got was delays, excuses, and such. I was starting to believe that bad service for RV's was the standard of care. I was recently at the SLC General RV for service and I watch their service line. They had 4 service writers and they got everybody in or scheduled in short order. I was very impressed.

I had those metal shavings, just in my engine that made it gernade! HA

We purchased our Thor Vegas from LaMesa and had a very good experience, had warranty work done at Camping World due to convenience and had a very good experience. It's not always the NAME of the dealer/service center that makes it good or bad, it's the management at that particular center that makes it what it is. Good management will ensure they have good employees (sales and/or service techs). Remember, you DO NOT have to use the dealership you purchased from to provide service, warranty or non-warranty (usually... I hear that in the north east, many service centers will not service the RV if they didn't sell it to you. That's just economically STUPID! on their part to turn down incoming $$$)

I’ve been told by camping world that all manufacturers have problems. But spending 1/4 of a million dollars on a Thor Aria you would think there would not be the poor craftsmanship that I have found with my Aria. Yea they fixed everything and have good customer service but had a lot of trips to camping world for repairs. They need to fix the poor workmanship in the factory!!!

Which General RV location? I've had great service from the While Lake office that moved to Clarkston.

Not General RV. Camping World in Pa. The service center has been great.

We have to keep in mind these (especially the smaller units) aren't build on an assembly line. To a certain extent it's like hiring a bunch of fellows to come over and build a house on your lot. There may be an overall plan, but execution is nowhere near the precise methodology used in building an automobile.

We recently purchased a Thor Freedom Elite from camping world. The day after we brought it home there was water seeping onto the floor...traced it to the incredible maze of hoses running from the fresh water tank. Took it back, Camping World was very accommodating about fixing it. Took it home, same leak problem reappeared. Back to Camping World to fix that leak. Again, they made a real effort to get right to it. At the same time I mentioned that the battery didn't seem to be holding enough voltage. After arguing with the electrical guy about the problem, he checked with a hydrometer and discovered a bad cell (in a new RV!) So, that ended the argument and the battery was replaced.

Also discovered that the house battery doesn't charge from the vehicle alternator, although it does charge from the generator and shore power...talked to Camping world and they weren't even sure that it was supposed to do so (it is). I think a replacement of the Trombetta solenoid is all that is needed, but I haven't dug into the engine compartment yet to give it the acid test.

Back when I did a lot of motorcycle touring I did a lot of tire changing and valve adjusting and such myself...it looks like this will be more of the same. But I really have grown attached to the unit. And there is a lot of fun stuff to learn.

I have pretty much fixed everything myself. At least I know it’s fixed. Along the way I gained working knowledge of all the systems for the future. IMO If you’re not handy with a wrench, you probably ought to think about motels/hotels. The techs at the dealerships probably know less than I do.

X2! You really need to actually enjoy diagnosing and fixing these things! And while there are lots of parts to an RV most of them really aren’t complicated if you’re doing one system at a time.
