Newcomers here

Hi Folks,

We're going to buy 2022 Four Winds 31W, but we're newbies in class C with 15 years of trailer experience.

What do you recommend to check on delivery?
What are the most common problems with the rig?
Does somebody have 120V and 12V diagrams for the motorhome?

Any other recommendations?

Thank you in advance
B.

Rent one first
Download the rvchecklist app.
Insist on some 'instant service now' coupons upon purchase.
Camp a night at the dealership after purchase.
Don't take delivery until it's all fixed.
No excuse, be prepared to walk away.

Ducksface advice is good. If you can't do that, then insist on a complete walk thru. If you can, video the walk thru because there will be some things you might not exactly remember. You need to make sure EVERYTHING works. Once you've done that, make sure they explain how to winterize the unit also.

My main suggestion is to reconsider the brand you selected. Others will disagree perhaps.

Welcome to our campfire!
What to check???
EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
Make sure that EVERY system is shown to work to YOUR satisfaction.
Our PDI took four and a half hours, and was worth every second of it.

You can check other brands, but it'll be difficult finding one that is not a part of the Thor family. The others have given great advice on what to look for.
As for switching to a class C, you didn't indicated what size trailer you had? if it were 25'+ I think you find there's less room & much less storage in the class C.
As for fuel mileage it will be in the 8-9 mpg, possibly less with the V10. The mileage could be better with the Mercedes diesel or super C diesel chassis, but you'll pay a considerable difference for those although the power & drivability will also be better.
Recently my wife & I have driven a Uhaul Ford V10 with the same class C chassis as the motorhomes from Arizona to Washington state twice, that was the absolute most uncomfortable cab of any vehicle I've ever been in. The engine screaming at every incline, the doghouse cover too hot to touch & passenger has NO room, driver side VERY limited.

Pretty much.
I'm not a fan.
I hadn't thought to compare them to a uhaul. I guess they're a Uhaul you can pee in.
The Uhaul comparison makes for an easy long rental drive.
The LONG test drive weekend can be very important.

(Someone here posted this week how the new rv made his wife carsick on a short test drive but hey, he bought it anyway. Her heavy heevy consequence is inconsequential. Don't be that.)

Thank you very much, folks!

Unfortunately, in our price range no choice in BC, Canada. We can only wait while some more rigs come, but I'm not sure we'll get a reasonable price.

The current offer in USD is about $120,000 for the brand new 31W.

The quality is a step down from our Arctic Fox trailer and the car cab - several steps down from our Tundra Platinum. But DW wants a motorhome She tired to rotate stabilization jacks

Battery drill for turning those jacks.
It almost makes it fun.

My former campers had auto level and you can either buy with or add on if that is the primary driver

.
It's actually very easy too find a non-thor RV. Forrest River, Winnebago are 2 major ones plus Phoenix Cruiser, Nexus, Renegade, Dynamax (FR brand) and a host of smaller brands. No one is stuck buying a thor product. Buying a thor and thinking that because thor is an entry level RV builder a buyer will get something for less $$$. Thor charges as much for crap as a better builder.

1/ Hire a local RV repair tech to check it out prior to purchase, This will iD what doesn't work.
2/ What say you Four Winds owners ??
3/ Wiring diagrams are usually in the owner's manual or available on-line.

Newcomers here

We had a c before switching to an a. C is easier to drive as you can see the highway center line in respect to the hood for lane orientation.
Coachmen makes a good c.
We did have an issue with water getting in the bunk over the cab, check all corners and roof joints for sealant new and every few months.

Do yourself a big favor and look around for another brand. We will be greatly glad that you did.

Never buy Forest River. Thor is a much better built unit. I own a Chateau 31W and LOVE it. I’ve owned FR and others. It’s a gamble no matter what you buy.

I owned a coachmen. Worst RV I ever owned. It was a brand new Leprechaun and it was very poorly made and General RV in Wixom was the worst service center and dealer ever.

We have owned a Coachman MH & a Gulfstream as well as a couple TT. No better or worse than our Thor. Same entry level component's and build quality as TMC.
If I had it to do over again, I would have skipped the class C's and bought an A right off. The extra storage can't be beat.
