Removed the Accolade's couch

In our Accolade we had a couch that sat in front of the TV and with just the 2 of us was not needed. We decided that we have a better use for that space.

The first step was to remove the couch. The bottom front panel lifted off and I was able to get the couch out by removing 4 screws. I then removed the arms from the couch to get it out the door and into our storage room.

Next I built a box to fill the back side of the space. The box was built using fiber board since it is not visible with the finished product.

I then installed 2 12 x 30 cabinets for storage and attached two 1x12 Poplar boards to provide a flat mounting surface.

I then attached 3 cat crates to the cabinets and secured then to the cabinets using roof truss tie down straps.

Removed the Accolade's couch

To finish the project I installed door knobs for the cabinets and attached a 1x24x48 project board that had been sitting in the garage for a year.

Great idea! And if the cat crates aren’t needed I assume could go taller cabinets and counter top. Nice!

The two options for us were the cat crates or an electric fireplace with cabinets and counter. The cats won out because we want the dinette back and the couch to us was useless.

I received a couple of inquiries on how I secured the crates to the cabinets. Each strap has 3 screws per half on the finished project.

Today the rig went into the dealer for service. Having the following done

Chassis LOF
Generator oil and filter change
SAT and Cable hookups are reversed (warranty)
Headboard came loose from the wall (warranty)
Trim around exterior door coming loose (warranty)
Clearance light replacement (warranty)
Roof inspection (complementary)

In February. the coach will be going to our winter spot in SC and I will begin prepping it for a couple springtime FMCA rallies and our Summer travels. Right now the summer looks like it will be 5 months through 10 or 12 states and includes attending the FMCA International Rally in Wyoming in July if it is not cancelled due to COVID.

I hope you get it back home soon: quicker than expected, and for less money than you anticipated!

Interesting you mention that. Scheduled completion is the end of the day today. If I elected to use drop off service I would have went into a cue that had 30 units ahead of mine. Since I elected same day service once I am notified it is finished I have to pick it up within 72 hours or I get charged a storage fee of around 20.00 per day.

I'll withhold comment on the money aspect until I see the invoice for the non-warranty related items.

Got a text message earlier and they said it will be finished by 10:00 AM tomorrow. Headboard is taking more time than anticipated with securing it better than Jayco did at the factory.

Picked the coach up today and with the exception of the exterior door trim all work was completed as promised. The dealer decided that instead of trying to remove and reinstall the exterior door trim they will order a new part and I have a tentative appointment for installation.

Of note, during my conversation with the Service Advisor today she stated that if parts fall within a certain dollar threshold (threshold determined by manufacturer) they do not have to get authorization to perform the work. they can order the parts and complete the warranty repairs.
