Quantum KW29 rear leveling jacks

Yesterday we picked up a new 2023 Thor Quantum KW29. While going through the inspection process I noticed that the rear leveling jacks, when retracted, seem to be in a precarious location and subject to dragging and possibly damage going over fairly small bumps and inclines. And comments or experiences with this setup?

Welcome. But I don’t have your unit.

They appear to be in the same place as most Class A and C RVs, right behind the rear wheels. I'd be much more concerned about dragging the tanks' discharge piping/valves.

Some people have installed drag bars. But what will help is approaching steep inclines (like some fuel stations) at an angle IF POSSIBLE... and NEVER straight on. If approaching at an angle isn't possible... you need to reconsider going up the incline.

This is no guarantee, but something I learned from experience. Don't ask...

It is not so much the location but how low they are after they are retracted.

We have a 22 KW29, and yes, you do have to be cautious on inclines. We've also found that it's best to slow down on some interstates, for example I95 in South Carolina, as there is not a smooth transition to bridges from the aprons. I don't consider it a major problem, but just one of those things that you have to be aware of when traveling.

Hope you enjoy the KW29.
