Class C mud flaps
I had a 2017 Chateau 23U and now have a new 2018 Chateau 31E, and on both of them the forward mudflaps came loose and rubbed on the tires. The tires rubbed through the mudflaps, but there was no apparent damage to the tires. The flaps are secured at the side by metal brackets that screw into the side of the coach. The screws rip out easily (I assume from wind resistance), and then the mudflaps rub on the tires. It's a very poor design, so even if you get all new parts and replace them it will happen again.
This appears to be a common problem on the Thor Class C motorhomes. It happened on both of mine and I have heard of it happening on many others.
I was just wondering if someone has come up with an elegant fix for the problem. I just used zip ties or a wire to attach the mudflap to a frame rail so that it can't swing back into the tire. On my new 31E I also reattached the stock supports with new screws, and then used gorilla tape to further secure them to the side of the coach. So far it's holding up okay, but I haven't done any long trips since the repair so we'll see.
