Class C mud flaps

I had a 2017 Chateau 23U and now have a new 2018 Chateau 31E, and on both of them the forward mudflaps came loose and rubbed on the tires. The tires rubbed through the mudflaps, but there was no apparent damage to the tires. The flaps are secured at the side by metal brackets that screw into the side of the coach. The screws rip out easily (I assume from wind resistance), and then the mudflaps rub on the tires. It's a very poor design, so even if you get all new parts and replace them it will happen again.

This appears to be a common problem on the Thor Class C motorhomes. It happened on both of mine and I have heard of it happening on many others.

I was just wondering if someone has come up with an elegant fix for the problem. I just used zip ties or a wire to attach the mudflap to a frame rail so that it can't swing back into the tire. On my new 31E I also reattached the stock supports with new screws, and then used gorilla tape to further secure them to the side of the coach. So far it's holding up okay, but I haven't done any long trips since the repair so we'll see.

Happened on my Freedom Elite. Thor was very good about getting replacement parts to me. I used two brackets instead of one and it seems to be holding up so far. Used a zip tie for a good while. Easy to fix in any case

Same thing happened on the driver side of our WS31. I assumed it was from blowing the inside dual at 65mph! It only had 1400 miles on it too. :/

Same thing happened to me!

I have a 23U also. The driver side forward mudflap rubbed on the tire and wore through. Replaced the 2 screws into the side of the coach also. I think I'll take your advice and secure them with wire. Thanks!

Not Good! What kind of tires blew after 1440 miles?

We had the drivers side mudflap and bracket break loose on our last trip. Thor was good at replacing it I think, I'm still waiting to pick up my Chateau 26B from other warranty work as well. Camping World has taken forever to do the work, but I don't think it has been a problem with getting parts. They received the mud flap and new bracket pretty quickly.
