Off this subject, what is your mileage on that big Super C of yours? Just wondering how different it is from my F550 Chassis?

I’ll have to check but I believe I am just shy of 9mpg towing over about 6500 miles. I’m on the iPhone and my data is on the Mac.

I get about 9.5 but I do the speed limit on the freeways. In Utah it is 80 and the surrounding states are mostly 75. I've had better mileage on 65 mph roads. But I seem to always average 9.5 no matter what. Thanks

If I keep my Magnitude SV34 around 60 - 65MPH I can get between 11 - 12 MPG. When towing my small trailer with the Spyder I get in the 10 - 11MPG range. When towing the Wrangler I am in the 9 - 11MPG range depending on the geography. If I keep it under 60 I can do a little better than those numbers.
Compared to my old Outlaw 29H with the V10 Triton it is amazing given it is bigger and heavier. I would get 7 - 8MPG with the Spyder in the Outlaw garage.
I bought the Banks Deringer Tuner for it over the winter. I am anxious to install it to see if it does anything for MPG. I didn't want to do a flash tune since the F-550 is still under warranty. It is supposed to add up to 59HP and up to 106 ft-lbs of torque.
I installed a Green Diesel Engineering Flash Tune in my 2018 GMC Canyon with the 2.8L Duramax and the performance improvements were amazing. It added about 40HP and 70ft-lbs of torque. I saw a substantial increase in fuel economy was well as throttle response and shifting. I was alreayd impressed with the little Duramax before the tune as I would get 25MPG city and 31MPG highway. After the tune I am getting almost 36MPG on the highway. It used to take me two fuel stops to drive from Pittsburgh, PA to Cape Coral, FL. Now I can make it on one stop with fuel to spare.

I saw a ford video recently saying the new 6.7 (next year?) will have 475hp and 1050t.... I wonder if better/worse mpg comes with that?....

Ford rates Diesel engines much lower when installed in heavy duty trucks. The highest HP and torque ratings are for pickup trucks in order to better compete with RAM and GM.
For what it’s worth, you may want to keep an eye on restrictions California may apply to diesels. I have no idea if “tuning” diesels may trigger a problem. After the VW incident, other companies have been penalized, and all diesels are under a microscope.

The tune for my GMC Canyon is emissions compliant. Not changes in the emissions system. The Deringer for the 6.7 PowerStroke is also supposed to be emissions compliant.
Now as far as the land of fruits and nuts is concerned..... all bets are off.

I have a Thor Magnitude RB34. It has the Ford 7.3L Diesel with the 10 speed.
We have 5k miles on it already and just bought it the last week of February. 4k of our mileage was one trip. Around 1400 miles of that was at 80-85 across Texas. I'm young and my two kids are impatient so I use that skinny pedal and always go 0-5mph over. We averaged 10.4mpg over the trip.
I think it's reasonable to expect 10mpg from new super Cs.

Sounds not to bad for being heavy on the skinny pedal...
(6.7l power stroke turbo diesel.... the 7.3l is the gasser godzilla motor)

MPG is a straw man argument. What you should be asking is cost per mile.

And don't forget the cost of maintenance.
If you don't know what to expect when you get the bill for the first oil change and see how much oil was used, it can be a shock.
Not sure about the F550 but my S2RV and Cummins 6.7 uses 24 quarts of oil, 2 fuel filters (primary and secondary) and an air dryer. My first service at 7,000 miles, cost over 300.00 in parts and that was for the chassis only.
I tend to view things from the concept of Total Cost of Ownership. This will also take into account the cost of insurance, storage (if required) etc...

I try not to think about it at all. With gas, maintenance, storage, insurance etc. I’m well over $500/month on my 30ft class A. More than double with payments - which, thankfully will be done by fall. I shudder to think what some of the big kids must be looking at.

I had the Ford dealer do my first oil change on my F550 when it needed a state inspection a year ago. It cost me about $110 with a coupon and it wasn't full sythetic. It takes 13 quarts with the filter.
I did it myself the last time for half the cost and used full synthetic that met the Ford diesel oil specs (which is fairly stringent.... Ford has a document specifically about diesel oil). If it was a full synthetic change at the dealer, it would have been well over $200.
Motorhome oil changes are as easy as they come with the levelers. I was able to go over 7000 miles before the computer indicated to change the oil.

Now the question is do we change every year if you only put a few thousand miles on the oil change?

Today's synthetic motor oils are not our father's motor oils. The every year oil change regardless of mileage is no longer applicable in my opinion.
I have a friend who has a boat and changing the oil is not very easy. He doesn't use it a lot so send his oil out for analysis before the season starts and he has gone a couple years without changing the oil based on the testing results.
I have a 2002 Lexus ES300 with 55,000 miles on it at my home here in Florida. It is a second vehicle and doesn't get much use. It has been 2 years and 2000 miles since the last time I changed the oil. The car is very reliable and runs as good as the day I drove it off the lot.
If I only put 2000 on my Magnitude after an oil change, I probably would not just change the oil when 12 months went by given I am running full synthetic.

FWIW, My Cummins Service Schedule states that synthetic oil must not be used until after the first scheduled oil change interval and that the use of Synthetic oil does NOT justify extended oil drain intervals.
They also do not recommend oil analysis as a justification to extend drain intervals because the testing methods to measure soot and other contaminants in oil varies from lab to lab.
They do recommend Synthetic oil if the ambient temperature is consistently below -13F
At over 10K for a used engine and 15K for a new ISB 6.7 I'll go by the specs in my maintenance schedule and change the oil once a year or every 15k miles.
As a note, back in the late 90s and early 2000s the only oil I used was Mobil 1 synthetic. After some time I realized that my driving and maintenance patterns did not justify the additional cost of synthetic oil. I have gone back to using whatever the manufacturer recommends at the interval they specify in the manual.
Again, FWIW.
