Solar controller issue

Hi I've got a Chateau 22E with a solar panel and the panel is now flashing 601 No idea why it's 1 year old. Called the dealer and they said "unplug from shore poser and put a load on the batteries and see if that changes the controller status." Tried that put on all of the lights all of the fans and put the awning out and no change. Even turn the master off and on still no change. attached a video of the panel... oop nvideo not allowed.
Any ideas?

Did you look up the error code in your GoPower manual or online?

Yes but not sure what to do about it. Not sure how it would suddenly be disconnected?

Look for loose or disconnected cables, have the battery(ies) tested. If thatís outside your ability contact a mobile tech.

Wires and cables shake loose going down the road and when loose simply walking in the rig can cause a disconnect.

When was the last time you serviced your batteries?

Helps if I scroll down and look at the video. Doh! Gonna talk to the dealer about whether I should do it myself or have them do it, I'm right at the warranty time...

Checking for loose connections is an ownerís responsibility and if loose itís not normally a warranty covered item. You could end up paying a dealer 125.00 an hour to tighten or clean a battery terminal.

Testing a battery is another issue.

Could be as simple as a blown or corroded fuse between the GoPower controller and the house batteries.

That would be my bet.

Try the simple things first. Could simply be a dead battery caused by a tripped main breaker.

I'm assuming your battery is under the entrance steps. You'll need to crawl under the motorhome just to the left of the entry door... beside the battery box under the steps. Look up under and you'll see a breaker with the battery cable attached to it. It might have a little yellow plastic "flag" pointing down... indicating it's tripped. If it is, push that flag back up with your finger.

Now go back inside and see if it's showing a voltage. If the battery is dead, it may take awhile to charge enough to register on your controller display.

1 year old unit, batteries sre fine but I did discover a loose wire, see attached.
Never seen a connection on a battery like the blue one that I think the red wire goes in, looks like the old crimp style. gotta disconnect everything on the post to check.
Since it's new, just passed one year, haven't gotten the brain back back into repair mode! Plus electrical is the least of my skills...

But wouldn't shore power have kept the battery charged? The main control panel shows 4 lights when I press the battery button.. or could it show 4 lights if one of the 2 batteries is dead?

I donít have your vehicle but Iím going to take a wild guess based on my class b setup. If that red wire is 10 gauge and the red fuse holder has a 20 amp fuse, then perhaps that is a broken connection between the controller output and the positive battery post. (That presumes the blue crimp is on the positive.) On mine, it connects to the input (positive) of my battery disconnect master switch. Just a thought.

Mike

My same unit has a fuze between the controller and the battery. Check the fuze.

When connected to SP it will always show 4 lights. It only shows battery status after being disconnected from SP for a half hour or so.

Same error showed up on my controller. The battery wire on the back of the controller had come loose. I had to find a long #2 square bit to reach the attachment screws.

Yep, on our 2023 FW 31W that red wire with fuse at the coach batteries is power to/from the solar controller. If it's open or the fuse fails, 601 is code you will see. I suppose Thor wired it directly to the coach batteries so the solar panel can keep the batteries charged even when the main DC disconnect switch is off.
