Super Duty Halogen Headlight suck.. NOW New Morimoto

it seems most think the Super Duty factory XLT trim level included only a poor Halogen headlight and fog light system. in my F600 I recently took removed the factory headlights and replaced them with the Morimoto CB LED system and also Grill inserts. It has made a HUGE difference the light is measured at 5 x the factory lights and is WHITE not yellow. I am awaiting the LED fogs from Morimoto to match... Expensive YES but do yourself a favor and be safe after dark in bad weather..and it even looks amazing during day as the grill inserts and headlights have amazing DRLs.. fully plug and play.. big job but fun and great out come .. YEA Morimoto! ( no I am not sponsored nor got money to say that) just happy with the outcome. Pisses me off the XLT package didnt have it but Oh well. .. Have fun

You must need cataract surgery or you suffer from night blindness. The headlights on my F550 were as bright as, and would light up the road ahead like the sun. I carry a bag of marbles in the driver door for those super bright, over the top LED lights people think they need to see. Do you also own a Jeep?

F550 headlights

No I have no vision problems. I am happy that your 550 is great and needs nothing... Not sure what lights you have from factory.
The replacements are aligned and have good light patterns. controlled and where they should be. My F150 has factory LED lights which are great.. Perhaps you got the good ones. Guess you save some bucks..

I agree. Folks with those super bright after market lights are a hazard to the travelling public.

Morimoto's are not overkill! They just more similar to the Ford factory LEDs you get on the higher trim levels. They don't look like lowrider tuner Honda crap that you see in the city. I have 3 cars with factory LED (Wrangle, Wagoneer & GMC 1500) all are far superior to the Ford factory halogens. That being said, I haven't driven enough in the dark to necessitate the $1500+ switch. Please show us a picture.

LED lights vs factory Halogens

PSD you are exactly right. The Morimoto is extremely similar to my F150 Factor LEDs that came on my Plati trim level. The DRLS are almost identical and infact I get brighted from more drivers in that vehicle than I ever expected. 100% factory. The Morimoto are far from the honda tuner junk market that people put LEDs and HIDs in housings not designed for it. Here in FL they are everywhere. Frankly I posted hoping it would help others as no owner I know is happy with the halogens. I did a lot of research and there is actually one out there that covers many different ones side by side.. These are far from crap light patterns with light everywhere or I would not have purchased. they are q quality product and to this point have not had one person 'bright' me. I leave them on Auto Dim. FYI in the pic the grill horizontal bars were extra and auto dim with the DRLs and mimic the DRLs.

Halogen swap out

Hey PSD,

Thanks.. the performance speaks for it self and I am pleased with the outcome
.. Interestingly enough the Morimoto folks said the grill inserts would only work with the Platinum grill ( heck if I had that level I would have already had LEDs from Factory which are amazing ) but a little patience and the XLT grill slot frames can be removed and the Mormoto ones installed. Pretty cool how Ford used some of the same parts from the core suport on out.. cool stuff.
