Looks like mine is going up in price by about $5K for '22, and is growing an inch.

All are actually listed as growing... 2" to 3" depending on model, except between the BT35/36 which is growing 11"... Does not make since unless the year before listing was incorrect, except for the BT36 on the F600 chassis which there could be a change on...

Model......2021........2022
..No.......Length.....Length
XG32.......33'-6"......33'-8"
RB34.......35'-6"......35'-9"
SV34.......35'-6"......35'-9"
BT35/36..36'-10".....37'-9"

For the BT36, of course with the F600 chassis comes the weight limit changes:
GVWR from 19500# to 22000#.
GCWR from 40000# to 43000#.
Hitch from 10000#/1000# to 12000#/1200.
Wheel base increased too from 258" to 267".

Prices will be soaring with the chip shortage. People in the auto industry are saying it is the worse supply chain issue they have ever faced in the industry.

GM says customers are going to dealerships and paying full sticker for vehicles that have not even been built yet.

There will be a chassis shortage so with the newbie COVID demand and a chassis shortage, pricing will be higher than it has been for new.... and used coaches.

These will be the same people complaining that the dealer won't offer them anything for their trade in a few years.

I was talking to an rv dealer a few days ago and he said people were buying at msrp. I could not imagine needing something so baddly that I was willing to pay 40-50k more for it. Simple lunacy if you ask me.

And when the market correction happens some folks will be so far underwater they’ll need deep water divers to rescue them. Talk about depreciation and the value of upgrades and mods will be zero.

I always like seeing what the details for the new models will be...

... even if I do sense an impending train wreck.

A train wreck will only hurt you if you are on the track. My portfolio looks pretty good but it's on paper and the next correction, yes it's coming, will make that paper worth less. Largely RVs are an extra, a frill that's not needed, and people who buy in desperation or always fill that "want" rather than tend to "needs" will get hurt. As far as I'm concerned, my house on 10 acres with 2 pole barns and other out building has a net value of ZERO. Zero because I'm not selling or moving and therefore I can't/won't spend it. Someday it will have value to my son, but that's his issue, not mine. Value and depreciation of an RV is only a factor when selling, so keep it or don't buy it in the first place.

Sorry for the rambling.

Makes sense to me, but lots of people fill that want right away without any thought.

This summer I plan a couple trips in the "new beast" and some in the fall. In my case I can afford it without cramping my current lifestyle or going hungry. It next year it's worth 1/2 what I paid then so be it. Doesn't mean I waste $$$ and I do negotiate the best deal possible. An RV is a depreciating "asset" and as such always a bad financial investment. Great for mental health as long as you don't fret over the small stuff and can fix most things yourself.

Everything rises in price but if there's value in that rise, OK. Based on the OP, if looking to get one, now is the time unless your crystal ball foresees the crash this summer which means you'll make a great deal in the fall.

I heard a rumor from a reliable source that the RB34 is going away.... and the new BS36 (RB34 floor plan with king bed on the F600) is coming soon...

It appears Thor manufactures more motorhomes than they include on web site. I accidentally noticed two small Magnitude floor plans built on E-Series chassis that I can’t locate on Thor website.

I can’t figure out why they would use Magnitude brand for a small Class C.

Agree.... that makes no sense other than to confuse consumers and dilute a model name that is supposed to be more of a premium model.

I don’t know what exactly is different about these small units versus Chateau and other Class C brands with same floor plans, but they seem priced a little higher. Still, while I’m not questioning use of E-Series chassis or smaller-size motorhomes, I do question why Thor at least didn’t go with new floor plans, full body paint, rear cap, etc. to differentiate and stand out as a premium product.

Anyway, also noticed largest Axis and Vegas floor plan, the 27.7, was discontinued. That larger Axis/Vegas never made much sense to me either because it has to compete with various F-53 Class As. No doubt it has some advantages, but overall can’t appeal to that many since cost is about the same or higher than similar MH built on F-53 chassis.

Not that they are asking for marketing advise, but in my opinion there is more room for Axis/Vegas to compete with vans by becoming smaller than with larger Class As at the other extreme. Small Class As were popular in US at one time and could be again if done right.

Of interest also is that some 2021 and 2022 Axis have the older awning style with wall supports rather than cantilevered. As I recall they had switched in 2018.

It would be good to know if change is due to short supplies, costs, or that they had issues?

…,
Thor is after first time buyers looking for an entry level product. They are not competing for premium buyers with deep pockets. Read their annual reports to stock holders.

The article below left me wondering if Thor may not also be casting a wider net because higher RV prices may exclude too many buyers; whether first-time or repeat.

Data doesn’t separate trailers from motorhomes (a lot more trailers than MH are sold), which makes average price of $75,000 even more meaningful as applied to motorhomes. The 87% income number not only suggests few can afford RVs, but even less of the population can consider buying a new motorhome.

High costs may be partly driving the downsizing trend, although in some cases small RVs cost more than larger ones.
