Thor Omni/magnitude CCC

I looked at and drove an Omni XG32 and as I recall the available cargo capacity was around 2600+- Later I looked at the SV34 and BH35. I didn't get the CCC on the SV34 but did see the BH35 at only neither 1300 or 1600 CCC. If Thor does use the F600 in some coaches, what is that going to do to CCC?

The ony coach using the F600 is the Magnitude / Omni BT36. It is new so there are not many published specs at this point. The F660 is 22K GVWR so I would guess it will be between 2000 - 3000 lbs with the 4x4 option.

I have a 2020 Magnitude SV34 and and I'm not worried about the weight at all with the F550 if I am <750lbs over.

The first weak link when it comes to GVWR and associated CCC is almost always the tires. The tires used on the F550 can carry over 22K lbs. They are also truck rated tires and deisgned to carry heavy loads at all times. The axles and other components can handle a little more weight and with the Engine Brake engaged, stopping is not
an issue.

If I am over weight, it is only temporary when start out with a full load of fuel, propane and water. As I drive the weight is dropping as I burn diesel and DEF.

I was much more concerned with the CCC on the E450 because the stock tires were just about at the GVWR. Plus they were LT tires that are not designed to carry a full load 100% of the time. The E450 had a higher chance of a blow-out when run at max capacity based on the tire confguration than the F550 and the F550 is a super duty truck chassis with appropriate suspension components vs the van chassis.

F-600 GVWR is 2,500 pounds higher than F-550 (22,000 vs 19,500), but chassis weighs a little more due to load-related upgrades like larger tires and wheels, springs, etc.

I’d expect an additional +/- 2,000 pounds OCCC provided coach is otherwise identical. However, manufacturers have a historical tendency to build to what’s available, so it would not surprise me if they didn’t add a little extra weight to coach in ways that may not be noticeable.

This was discussed previously, and for the minor chassis cost difference, F-600 seems a great value.

Another test drive and inspection

Yesterday we looked at another XG32 and an Esteem 29V, (E-450 chassis) with rather extensive preflight and test drives. The Esteem has many nice features but when adding up the sum of the parts, decided to go with the Magnitude XG32. Yes 2 very different vehicles and 2 very different pricing. Every RV is a compromise but we feel the compromises are fewer with the Magnitude.

I have my Raptor 356 for sale and when it sells we'll get the Magnitude. The only initial upgrades I'l make will be 2 more 6V batteries and some extra solar. For that not sure if I'll negotiate that into the purchase or do/have it done later. My understanding the installed controller can handle up to 300w total????

Payload on the XG32 we drove was 2250#

Omni XG 32 over cab bunk

We haven't picked up our Omni yet but I was wondering if anyone knows the dimensions of the bunk over the cab. I'm making a mattress pad for it.

For reference. I just received the RS36 on the F600 Chassis and from the yellow sticker gives OCCC = 3,328 lbs.

Have you been in the bunk, it’s actually quite comfortable. They say it’s a Rv Queen

The GCWR minus the actual weight of the completed coach and the capacity of the hitch installed by the motorhome manufacturer.

The Ford F550 model year 2020 and newer have the 10 speed transmission and the higher HP and torque.
My 2022 XG32 with all my gear and small amount of fresh water weighted 18,380 lbs. with a GVWR rating of 19,500 lbs.
With my trailer the XG32 weighted 18,810 lbs. which includes the trailer tongue weight. Trailer axle weighs 4940 lbs. for a combined weight of 23,750 lbs. with a GCWR of 40,000 lbs.

May I ask what you paid for yours? Negotiating right now with a dealer.

For reference, I am selling back this week for a significant loss because this unit is not what I was expecting in build quality and I have no faith that it will last many years with out many significant issues. I am replacing with a Renegade Valencia which will be a better fit for my family and to a much better reputation for build quality.

I purchased the Thor RS36 from RecVan (which is same as La Mesa). Their list prices are right at $205k which seems at this time to be pretty competitive with all the other high volume dealers.

thank you for the information. I did eventually see the other comment about your issues. We are obviously looking for similar RVs, have you bought a Valencia yet? What is the difference in price?

Depending on your Valencia options you will be looking approximately $35k - $55k more than the Thor (depending on dealer negotiations). Note that Renegade has never discounted (even before COVID) units as much as other manufacturers. Pretty much every Valencia I found is sold before it hits the dealer lots. I happened to find a build order that met my needs, but most folks are just custom ordering based on each dealers build dates and most seem to be coming in within 6 months of order.

Selling back implies that selling back to the dealer. Have you tried just selling on RVtrader or such? I'm also not impressed and somewhat depressed when I get into the bones of mine. I knew thor was a low end but figured that maybe even they could make a better model than their reputation is. Wrong big time. Too bad a sad house on such a nice chassis. I'm looking at the Nexus Wraith and Ghost but figure I could sell this with minimal $$$ damage to me. IF I do this it will be soon before the RV buying frenzy subsides too much. There will always be buyers who won't wait and a nearly new shiny glitzy Omni/Magnitude priced nicely under MSRP would fit their bill. I'm patient.

What Eric said. My valencia 38rb will be finished mid to late February

M&K sport truck in Indianapolis has a 38rw on its website listed for $249k.
