Trip to the scales

Friday I made my trip to the CAT scales to see where I stood.

Steer Axle 5640 GAWR 7500

Drive Axle. 12440 GAWR 14706

Gross Weight. 18120 GVWR 19500

That's with full fuel minus estimated 4 gallons, 1/3 fresh water, a few gallons of waste water, just me, refer, pantries, compartments loaded for travel and the basement mostly loaded.

What I didn't have is her, hoses and cables, tow bar and equipment, grill, and the rest of the food we would have for travel so I'm in good shape. I haven't checked the tire loading vs PSI charts but I'm currently at the placard weights of 95 front 110 rear. It drove good at that so we'll see. Nice having a margin of weight as opposed to being in an E based C and being close to overloaded sitting on the dealer's lot.

Next week we'll be on a trip up to the NC mountains and I'll find a scale and weight with the toad attached.

It doesn't drive all that good. Another thread discussing it. Haven't found a convenient set of scales for the enroute weigh but I was provided a Continental tire chart and I'm over inflated. Tomorrow I'll reduce to 80 and 95 based on the Conti chart for my tires and my estimated weights based on actual scale numbers and what I suspect I've added. More to come after Saturday perhaps, travel day.
