Vegas to Class C

The Vegas 25.1 proved to be too small for us after two years of use. As is so often true, how we thought we would use it and how we actually use it were two different things. We stayed with Thor and bought a Class C, the Chateau 31L. That model was replaced mid 2017, and we like the older one. We found a small dealer in Dewitt Iowa that has been a pleasure to deal with so far. So, breaking in another rig.

If you don't mind me asking, how many people usually traveled in Vegas when you found it too small? My wife and I can't completely agree on motorhome size, yet would like to get it right for both of us. Any insight you can share is appreciated.

Usually two adults but a lot of dogs. The adults would sleep in separate beds. Sometimes it was used as homebase for dog agility weekends. Then the beds were left inflated and down and there just was not any room. One bed was the dinette. Without a couch there was no where to sit. The dogs had any annoying tendency to want to sit on the table also, despite the whole back being available sometimes. In the end, it just depends on how you are going to use it, how many people and animals and what type of sleeping space you need. The back area in ours was an inflatable bed, and due to the hassle of taking it down and setting it up, it was just left up, which made the back lounging area unusable. The dinette was the other bed and that was left down too on agility weekends. We actually liked the air mattresses for sleeping, but they are a lot of work.

Given your description it sounds to me the problem was more with the layout than how much room you had (although that is a contributing factor given that a larger unit allows for a more usable layout).

Your experience is not uncommon. What we think we want doesn't always turn out to fit our needs. And sometimes our situation changes, we start traveling with more people or more pets, or less. The same thing happens with homes, so why not with our vehicles?

Congrats on your Chateau 31L I prefer the 2016 layout also. But bought a Fourwinds 31W 2016, also great layout but bathroom could use six more inches either way. My next will be a Class A just due to Cargo weight caring capacity.
