Internal water filter

I have a 2016 chateau 31W. When I tried to access the water filter to winterize the first time....no way. The wrench they supplied would not fit and if it did you had no room to undo it. I ended up removing it and hooked the ends together and no more filter. You think they could have put it some place you could access easily...nothing easy about this coach. Anyone else find the same issue???

Yep! First year eliminated it. Found the in and out was reversed and no filter cartridge installed!
Now I use a external inline, much easier

I got a better one than that. Mine was shipped with a wrench and filter element, but no filter housing or connection point. The wrench is different from the typical GE wrench which also makes it useless. I use a GE canister filter on the exterior at the campground faucet.

Yep. Had the same issue(s). Had the filter housing removed. Didn't like the idea of a full canister of water which was VERY difficult to get to, and open without getting water all over right next to the rigs electrical panel. I use an exterior filter and haven't looked back...don't miss it at all.

The filters are not installed or are removed for winterization. All of my units, 3 motorhomes, all came with the wrench and a new, never used, filter still in the box. Where they are mounted can be another issue altogether. In my current coach the filter location is not bad (in the wet bay) but the manner in which it is mounted up against the side wall of the compartment makes it harder to remove and install the filter. I am considering remounting the filter for easier maintenance but I will not take it out of the system.
