Water Filter Canister Swap Out

Finally ran across this cute little thing...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014C5D64...roduct_details

The Thor folks mounted my water filter in a way so that the only way to get the canister unscrewed is to unscrew the bracket, since the bottom is about 1/8" off the floor. I tried to find a better place to mount it, but it just doesn't fit anywhere.

I put in a bypass, but really wanted filtered water...even at 5micro filtering, it's better than nothing.

This little guy mounts to the same bracket, and I'll actually be able to get if off/on.

Down side, they only come with 3/8" NPT in/out's, so have to swap out the fittings.

Unfortunately the little canister doesn't fit the existing housing...as the guy on Amazon claimed it does.

Ron

Are you planning on cutting the 9 1/2 inch filter elements in half?

Good idea, as long as they aren't the ones with charcoal inside. I do have couple for my Class A that are not filled with charcoal...in a pinch that would work.

I bought a couple of the 5" filters on Amazon that fit the smaller unit.

Found the 3/8" NPT fittings at SupplyHouse.com (on-line plumbing supply). Cut the pex, repurposed the existing fittings, changed out the housing mount - 20mins all in.

Works like a charm, and now I can actually change the filter without having to disassemble the entire setup.

Next, going to add a bypass, just didn't have the parts this weekend
