You should ask if the engine is up to date for all recalls. If they do not know, you can probably check with a dealer if you provide your vin number. If its the Ford engine, they had several recalls around that year as I had 3 with mine which my Ford dealer took care of. I think my chassis was actually a 2017 and the RV build date was 2018.

Mine had the lights replaced by the dealer but were out again not long after, I contacted Carefree and they couldn't have been nicer. Sent new lights that my son installed and have been working perfectly ever since. Did have the rear end cap missing & they sent that as well. Thor had not mounted the awning through the whole wall so when a company doing warranty work (not my dealer) noticed the awning hanging loose, they insisted I NOT get on the highway like that, phoned Thor & got permission (under warranty), to take the microwave out & put bolts through with enough backing (washers?) to not pull loose. They also fixed a couple other problems (under warranty) so in the end, Thor and Carefree took care of me & my problems. I do have the model that closes up in wind. 2015 4-Winds 28F. My sons would like to see me driving something smaller but I decided to stick with this one at least until..... when ever it is MY idea.

Question on warranty purchase - of course dealer is wanting to sell me extra warranty stuff about $90/no. Any opinions on that? Or any regrets by people either buying or wishing they would have purchased?

compass and gemini

first post to this forum. have been lurking for several months. Came up with this solution for spare tire and additional storage options.
Carrier from e-trailer, 20x48, part #e98875. around $125 from e-trailer.
2016 Compass bought used 9 months ago. Very happy so far.

Galley sink won’t drain

Grey tanks and black tanks are empty. Turn on tap, put water in sink and it won’t drain. Filled grey tank 33% via bathroom sink. While running bathroom tap, water bubbles up into galley sink. Drained holding tank and water runs out of galley sink. Tried filling sink again and it still won’t drain. Any suggestions?

Do you have a one way vent under the kitchen sink? If it’s stuck closed the drain isn’t vented and might not drain properly. The same would be true if the sink vents through the roof if that is blocked by something. Draining the tanks might create enough of a vacuum to pull the water through. Easy to check.

Thanks. Good info. Looking at the schematic of the drainage system, I see an “Anti-siphon vent”. Now, it looks like I have to take a panel out to see it. How will I know if it’s closed?

If it’s a studer-vent it’s just screws off by hand. You should be able to suck air into it but not blow out through it. The “flapper” inside might be stuck from long periods of storage. Getting it freed up might be all you need to do but they also are cheap at big box hardware stores. It’ll be high up under the sink almost up to the countertop. I hope it’s something that simple. Good luck.

Thanks for your help. You have saved me hours, no days of frustration trying to figure out this issue!

Luckily my dealer talked Thor into sending another glass through warranty, price unknown. Called it a stress crack.[emoji106]

You can buy parts direct from Carefree.

I have get parts direct. If anyone has them, they do.

They also have local dealer networks on their site.

Items to check on a new 2020 Compass TW

Hello all,
First post here and I am still digesting the Gemini/Compass thread.

Picking up a new 2020 Compass TW with 1,400 miles on it (dealer said delievery from factory) and had a few questions to ask before pickup.

Is it normal to have that many miles on a new RV?
Noticed a check engine icon on the dash when test driving, I have a question about this in with the dealer.

Forgot to add that the Ford factory ac unit was have difficulty cooling when we did the test drive. Understand that the outside temp was 100 deg, but my 2002 chevy' ac measured from the center vent is in the middle 40'. Is that normal?
Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Appreciate Coveman2' advise on what to look over (and others)
Oil and filter change (most chassis are one year old)
Test all batteries and if weak have them replaced.
Full tank of fuel.
Full clean up of sawdust behind and in drawers
Starter kit ( water hose, sewer hose, some chemicals for tanks, water regulator)
Make sure you have them show you how to access the water pump and pump strainer to clean it out the first two or three times you use the fresh water tank or better yet have them check the strainer ( it gets full of plastic bits from when they drilled the holes for the pipes)
Check fuse box for any blown fuses
Make sure you know how the 3 way fridge works if your model has one.
Make sure you get the Thor bag with most of the manuals (They are all available on the Thor website when you put in your VIN number and register)

How to winterize (have had boats with vacuflush and water in the past)
RV has aluminum wheels, wanted to know if they are coated or not (for coating with Sharkhide wheel coating)
Roof need a protective coating added

update; do the seams need EternaBond installed when new?
Also I saw a nice external propane grill in the demo video, anyone know what brand/model?

Its about 750 miles from Indiana to Arkansas so the rest is probably test drives at the dealer. Mine had 750 KMs when I took delivery but the factory is not a long drive to my dealer in London Ontario Canada

Good luck in your new Compass and stay safe

Pilot light

I think I've got this figured out but want to confirm with you experts.

When I'm required to turn off pilot light that just means:

1. Turn off refrigerator
2. Turn off water heater

Right?

Then just close lp tank.

To turn back on after refueling, etc, open lp tank and when I turn frig back on it automatically lights pilot in frig.

Thanks for feedback

If yours is a 3 way fridge it should be set to auto. There is no pilot light its electronic ignition for both fridge and water heater. I do not shut off the propane when fueling but do if I am going through a tunnel or on a ferry.

Thank you. Filling up propane for first time and clerk said make damn sure you turn off your pilot light first. And I was like, duh, don't know about that!

I messed up electronic control app already. Only took two days.

I deleted the app.

Anyone with 2020 Gemini can tell me what name of app is and how to download?
