Made a huge storage purchase

So after my first trip I decided we needed some outside storage. I want to be able to bring a grill, and the other necessities (comforts) and store things that I don’t necessarily want in the Tellaro.

After a bunch of searching and YouTube watching I decided on the Yakima Exo system. The system is hitch mounted, swings to the passenger side out of the way. With it installed I will be able to use the Thule bike racks still. When its not in use the cargo portion will come off and go in my garage. The swing are folds away like the Thule does.

I was able to find it at TitanTruck.com

Totally uncalled for lol

The inside dimensions are 14.6” high x 17.5” deep X 51.7” wide. Not quite kitchen sink or mother-in-law, but a grill, leveling blocks, etc.

The Yakima EXO Arrived!

The Yakima EXO arrived!! The swing away arm is very nice, I can understand the cost of it. Even the tools it came with to install it were nice. The swing away arm locks to the hitch, and the cargo box locks to the swing away arm. The cargo box also locks. I know its just a storage box but I’m pretty excited about the quality and fit and finish of it. Many times when you purchase something online the product doesn’t end up being as nice as the pictures/videos.

Thanks for the thread and follow up.
I've recommended this to a neighbor so we won't have to cut up his bike rack to add a storage pod.

I'll probably buy one also.
It's as cheap to buy as I could make it and I've threatened to make a similar unit for about 15 years now.
The wagon wheel accessory seems particularly useful.

I can’t recommend TitanTruck highly enough. Finding this in stock was difficult and whoever had it wanted a fortune for shipping. TitanTruck shipped fast and free. I had a tracking number the same day I ordered, and received both parts quickly.

I have no affiliation just believe in noting great service.

This is a Weber Q1200 for scale, it fits perfectly inside. The closed box provides a perfect height to act as a table. I will probably get a nice piece of bamboo to place on top to protect from splatters and provide a little more of a work surface.

Now have room for leveling blocks etc.

I may add a fence post sewer hose holder to the outside of the cargo box eventually so I can comfortably carry 20ft of it.

I just looked it up and the swing arm alone weighs 68.5 pounds.

Dearest mother-in-laws go on the roof rack, with Aunt Edna, right?
Or do ya tie their leash to the bumper and drive away? I always forget and get those two mixed up...

Re: OP
Saw an ingenious system that someone fabricated out of steel that I'm going to attempt in alumnium (and probably some steel).
The design was supported by two Class III receiver hitches that were welded a couple of feet outboard of the main center mounted hitch. Into these receivers the builder had a variety of different accoutrements that could carry anything from a small runabout or a pair of kayaks, to a hard of bicycles above a motorcycle. I don't recall how the top was stabilized, and it still required a long extension to utilize the main hitch, but overall it seemed extremely functional, and limited only by the owner's supply of tubing and welding rod in terms of it flexibility.
