Move Roof Rack on Tellaro
Has anyone moved the forward Thule roof rack behind the solar panel so the 2 racks are both in the rear? The way my 20K is set up, if I want to use the roof rack, it will cover the solar panel.
Is there a good reason not to move it?

Didn't know you could even do that, but I think it's a better idea.

I agree. The roof rack with the thule ladder system is awesome but we didn’t want to cover our solar panel so we ended up just buying a thule cage. It has openings so that its not completely covering the solar panel

I moved mine to the back. To make it work, I had to move my solar panel forward. I did it to mount a spare tire and wheel that I purchased on e-bay. No problems with it.

Not to take any exception to Steven at all..... but I just went thru the whole spare tire thing.
If the idea for moving the rack is to put a spare on your roof, a donut type spare would be very iffy on a loaded Tellaro for any distance.
Otherwise.....a full size spare and wheel weighs probably 80+ pounds and is unwieldy to manage. Getting it up and down off a roof....especially with the OEM telescoping ladder would be difficult.
I ended up with the Solo XL hitch carrier and have been very happy.
I'd like to know the particulars of Stevens installation. I'm always happy to be shown a different view....but that was all just my experience.
Thanks!

That is an interesting option to put the spare on the roof. I actually spoke to the Weingard techs about putting just the tire (not the rim) around the their unit and asked if it would interfere with their reception. They didn't know and thought that the steel belt could possibly improve the reception. The tire itself maybe weighs 25 pounds and it would slip over the unit like a giant rubber donut and than you could strap it down. Just a crazy Tellaro owner thought!!

Here’s a couple pictures of my tire on the roof rack. I was just trying to find the best was for my use. I know it will be tough to unload, but I didn’t want to block the back door, and this was basically FREE.[emoji106]

Thank for the pics! Well look at that. Good for you. I was actually thinking getting it UP on the roof would be the hard part.

Today I moved my forward roof rack to the back and moved the solar panel forward just like AZSteve did. What a pain because of the roof vents. The way the (20K) is positioned on the passenger side, I had to slide the attachment screws all the way out the front for the solar panel and then slide the rack & panel screws back in the correct order. My now forward rack is at about a 2-degree angle because of where the roof vents are.

AZSteve, could you send a pic of how you're using the bike rack. I can only see the corner of it in one pic and it appears that there is some sort of bag mounted.
Thanks, John

Here’s a couple of pictures. I had previously posted them, but can’t find the post. Hope this helps. I removed the rails for the bikes to mount the small box. The bag holds our outdoor double chair and table
