Solar not charging batteries

According to my controller my solar battery light is always reading empty. 0.0 A. I’m in the sun all the time but it’s never once read that it’s fully charged. I’ve only had it for a month and a half is this a controller issue or a solar issue? Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Check the fuse near the batteries on the + wire from the solar controller. It may be blown.

First, you are confusing volts and amps. If your batteries were "empty" they would be reading ~10.5V while the amps reading on the solar charge controller tells you the current charge to the batteries.

If you are on shore power and the batteries are fully charged, reading 0.0A for the charging voltage is not out of the ordinary.... even if you are exposed to sun.

For example, my coach is on shore power and my LiFePO4 batteries are fully charged. Both my Inverter / Charger and my Solar charger both currently show 0.0A.

Now if you are not on shore or generator power and you are using the batteries for lights, etc..... and there is light available to the solar panels, you should see some current if the solar panels are charging the batteries. If not, as DavidEM indicated, check the fuse for the solar charge controller circuit.

Also, you want to check that your solar controller is configured for the type of house batteries installed..... Wet... AGM..... LiFePO4.... and the proper voltage. Do not assume Thor and / or the Dealer has configured it properly. Get out the users manual and check the settings.

My solar control never reads any voltage or amps coming into the solar controller.

I pulled it off the wall and checked the leads to the battery and there is voltage but the wires coming from the PV show nothing even in full sun.

Anyone tell me why?

Are the wires from the controller connected to the panels?

Does it even have solar panels or was it sold as solar prep?

What model and year is the unit?

Are you the original owner?

So many questions, provide answers and we may be able to help you better.

Mine has 3 or 4 dots that light up depending on charge. It will show green light up dot on the top left. The display will show FULL and show the voltage

I had a $15 PWM 30 amp controller go bad.
It was no longer transferring the solar energy to the batteries.
In defense, it’s a cheap China product.
So I ordered another from Amazon and now my system works fine again.

David

I’m having the same issue. Is the fuse too difficult to find? I removed the controller and tried to do a hard reset but didn’t work. I didn’t see the fuse.

My fuse is right by the batteries, it was blown because Thor didn't install the controller, after I installed the controller I replaced the fuse
