Thor 2021 Sequence 20L - Water Filter

The Thor 2021 Sequence 20L schematic shows a water filter beside the water pump. Who makes that filter and what model is it ? Does it come as a Carbon or Sediment filter ?
This is a mounted filter housing, not an inline garden hose filter.

Is it a filter, or are you actually looking at the suction strainer?

More than likely a standard 10 inch Watts filter. I suggest you read the copyright notice on the diagrams from Thor.

Water Filter

There is both a metal mesh straining and a big white filter cartridge holder. The filter cartridge holder comes empty and Thor gives you the filter to put in. I looked at my Sequence 20L install under the access hatch on drivers side and it looks nearly impossible to install a filter. I decided to buy a separate RV water filter that I use on my hose connection. Easy to use and replace with no risk of dumping a bunch of water in bottom of my rig during the process.

The 10 inch filters are typically manufactured by Osmonics or other majors and are actually 9.5 inches

They are a in a wide variety of media and micron size

Hose mount filters are typically 20 micron or higher sediment

I use a combo sediment/taste

Do you have more behind the panels pictures of your Sequence like this? I am taking delivery of my Tellaro on the 3rd and looking for some good inspection ideas.

Fantastic, Thank you! Do you have a picture of the support piece you mention in the last page of the PDF? What did you use?

Space Under Drivers side Bed

Attached are pictures of what I used. I have a bunch of misc. parts from many previous projects and just used this black plastic corner piece for this. I have also attached picture of 3 other things I had in my misc. part bucket that I considered using and that you might have something similar to. Two of the items are left overs from mini-blind installs in the past. I was just wanting something more substantial that the screw they used. It was already starting to bend down from the downward force it was getting. Thor really ought to do a better job in their build. The screw solution is pretty weak.

That is excellent information. I see the water filter is a carbon filter which is GAC, and will eventually change that for a Carbon Block filter.
What is the antifreeze port for as I thought that all the low points had drainage, therefore no antifreeze needed to winterize?

Water Filter

Not sure what the anti-freeze port is for. It shows up on the water schematic Thor publishes so it has some purpose. Something I still to need to get info on.

You will definitely want to winterize unless you store the MH in a warm climate

Thanks for the tip. I ended up installing an L bracket on the same screw. Used their screw, hoping it wasn’t too long to screw all the way in.

I just picked up a Sequence 20L and I agree with you about the carbon filter supplied by Thor. It does seem impossible to install.

From your descriptions of the photos you attached, it seems that you have an idea of where things are located in this unit. In one photo, you indicated the presence of the drain valve for the fresh water tank. I assume that in the photo this is the blue handle located near the center of the photo. Is this the drain valve referred to in Owner's Guide when discussing sanitizing and winterizing/dewinterizing the system?

It is unclear to me precisely how you would empty the fresh water tank when needed. The low point drains seem to be insufficient by themselves for this purpose. The Owner's Manual mentions these drains as well as the fresh water tank drain valve. If you have identified this drain valve, the job can be done.

Where did you get schematics of your Sequence? I thought once I was able to get into the Thor owners I would find them but haven’t seen them. Would love to have the complete built schematics. Will be installing a dash camera front and rear this weekend.

TimHartley - I believe that is the fresh water tank drain but I have not dewinterized my rig yet so not confirmed. Waiting for it to stop dropping below 32 here in Michigan.

OldSheepDog - the schematics are one if the many manuals and videos that Thor has available on the owners site. It’s buried way down in list but it’s there.

Does anybody have any experience sanitizing the water system with the water filter in place. The manual says to either bypass or remove the filter first. As there is not a filter bypass and I agree it’s virtually impossible to remove the filter has anybody tried sanitizing with the filter installed? I’m thinking about trying it…

Remove the filter completely

Very difficult to sanitize if it has activated carbon media
