Truma Combi Eco heating times?

We have a '22 Thor Promaster 2500 Tellaro with the propane only 2.6 gallon Truma Combi Eco water heater/furnace. The Eco+ and Comfort models also add electrical heating elements to heat the water in addition to propane. We're seeing times of 40-45 min to go from ambient temp (60-70 degree) water to 140 degree water (when the flashing icon on the display stops flashing). Specs say it should be closer to half that time. We select the ECO temp setting. Selecting HOT or BOOST is only bumping up the resulting final temp as I understand it. I don't think they actually "turn up" the propane's flame. Just like a home gas water heater doesn't increase the "flame size" when you increase the temp. The flame just continues at the same "size" until a higher temp is achieved. Are these 40-45 min times excessive or normal?

We did some camping in the 40-50s, I don't recall it taking more than 10mins or so to get to temp - I do hit the BOOST in the morning, then set to ECO, dunno if it used more propane or not...sorry environment if it did.

So do you have Eco, Eco Plus, Comfort, Comfort Plus?
It should be on the label on the unit itself.
Reading the Combi Eco manual online, that includes all the models, the Eco (not plus and not comfort) model has 2 "operating levels" (the plus and comfort plus have 3 "operating levels"), and the "levels" do have increasing BTU outputs, so I may be wrong that there is only one flame level (for lack of.a better term) and it simply uses time like a home gas water heater to get to higher temps. I ASSUME that those "operation levels" in the Combi Eco manual coincide with the ECO, HOT, BOOST settings on the CP Plus control panel.
Even on HOT, it says it should take 20 min to get to temp. (Something like 50 degrees to 140 degrees). Do you wait for icon to stop flashing? Thanks.

Pretty sure you are correct, as you say...'flame level'

The label shows two input rates - 1st 7500 BTU/hr , and 2nd 14300 BTU/hr

Never gave it a thought...but now that you pointed it out...

7500 must be ECO, and 14300 must be BOOST and HOT probably oscillates between the two levels.

Propane has 91,500 BTU/gallon.

I think my Tellaro has a 10gal tank...so 915,000 BTU potential divided by 10,000 (Kentucky windage average between 7500-14300)...should run for 90hours on average, the way I use it. 915000/7500 =122hrs, 915000/14300 =64hrs.

Probably have to factor in the stove...still not bad.

Here's what the control panel manual says...

OFF-Hot water generator is switched off.
ECO-Hot water temperature 40 °C
HOT-Hot water temperature 60 °C
BOOST-Targeted, rapid heating of water (water pri- ority) for maximum 40 minutes. When the water temperature is reached, room heating continues.

The times we were at 40-50F's, I did have the heater running prior to turning on the water heater, wonder if that cuts the time a bit.

I'd have to experiment with it.

The one thing I wish it had is the iNet (not wifi) cellular interface, they only sell it outside the US. Be nice to be able to control the unit with an app.

Just found that there a iNet X panel - again only UK. It at least has a bluetooth interface, with an app.

The devices use can-bus to talk, but it's all proprietary and hasn't been cracked yet...been down that route too.

Ah. Yes. I do believe it also heats the water when running the heater. They do call it...

Only boiler on 20 minutes, boiler & heater on 80 minutes for water to reach 140.

I would contact the manufacturer . Multi stage gas valves are common in modern gas heating systems .
