Sanctuary Counter Space Solution

Here is my simple yet effective solution for lack of counter space in the kitchen. Sorry for the terrible photo , can’t seem to figure it out on this phone.

Thanks. Olive oil is the way to go.

Mineral oil won't become rancid.
Vegetable oil can go rancid.
You'll know when.

Olive oil is handy but has the possibility of stank.
It's a subtle earthy smell.

I made it out of some leftover pine and oak I had in my shop. Simple to do. Just barely clear the knobs on the range or you might not like how tall it sits. I ended up planing the thickness down to about a half inch and still ended up with about a two and a half inch skirt. Attached small bumpers on the bottom so it wouldn't slide around in transit. It also helped to reduce the rattle a bit from the range grates.

That looks beautiful! Does it also fit over the burners or on just moveable to add to the counter space?

Thanks, it does fit over the burners and knobs. I think it needed about 2 5/8” off the top of the counter top to clear, if I remember correctly. So you get a hollowed out cutting board
