drawers pulling apart at the staples

My drawers are falling apart. Now, before you jump to any conclusions, I'm talking about the ones in my Compass. The face of the drawer (with the handle) is pulling apart from the sides of the drawer. I can see the metal staples, and I have managed to gently push is back together. However, I need advice from Thor or members of the forum. Can I glue the drawer and clamp it? Should I use wood screws? Wood screws and glue? Thanks for your suggestions.

I used some gorilla glue construction adhesive for some formica paneling on my bathroom cabinets in my home, and it worked wonders.

x2 on Gorilla Glue. Use clamps to hold it in place.

I like to use epoxy for fixes like this; I've never had the pleasure of trying Gorilla Glue...

By the way: Is it actually made from real gorillas?

Glue then wood screws. Once glued screws would act as clamp.

That's assuming that you've got enough "meat" in those drawers, for the screws to get a good bit on!

If appearance is not affected then wood glue and screws are the best. If it's a high load problem or the side panels are splintered and won't hold a screw then you can buy 2 small metal corner braces with 1/2" screws and use one one each inside corner.

I would use the Gorilla glue for sure. Use is sparingly and make sure you clamp it tight. The glue is polyurethane based and will expand as it dries to get into all the little nooks and crannies. Works great and is waterproof when dry. I doubt you will have enough meat on the drawer to get a screw in it without splitting it more. Wear latex gloves when working with the glue. If it gets on your skin it will take a couple of days to wear off. (personal experience first time I used it).
