There is a huge difference in dealers as well as the prices

It really does makes the price differential justifiable.

Two Water heaters?
If the electric element is accidentally turned on when there is not enough water in the tank it burns out instantly. Always be sure to have a full water heater before trying the electric switch. Lots of heating elements have burned out that way.

Hi ! I just picked up on this conversation...
this may be a redundant question...
ARE YOU SURE you have the water turned on to your heater?
Our water heater in our Axis has the dual switch and
5 years later, it has never missed a drop of hot water and
it heats quickly via 110 or gas
good luck and I hope you have already solved your issue.

Don't want to insult you but is there water in the hot water heater? When your camper is winterized it will have the valves from the main tank off to bypass the heater tank. That way you don't have to put antifreeze in the heater tank. If the valve bypass is still closed, you won't get water into the hot water tank. I suggest that you get a better handle on your unit before pushing buttons to minimize damage. Ask questions and we'll see if we can help.

My Windsport is setup for washer and dryer. I could not get the 110 to work on my waterheater until I paid the roving repair man his base fee. He poked around, finding there was no power to the heater. He asked if any breakers were turned off! Of course, I had turned off the circuit breaker to the washer/dryer, why would I need that? Doh!!! That was the problem, it just never occurred to me to try that.

You have just one water heater. It can run on propane or on a heating element in the same tank. I never hear a relay click when I turn mine on. You must be on shore power or generator for it to work.

Well, thanks all. I simply misunderstood the way that the 110 heater worked. All is great now and there are no issues. Before, I was turning on the 110 WHEN I needed hot water, and it was a lot slower than the gas. Now I leave the 110 on all the time and the water is hot on demand.
Thanks everyone!

Your panel will have to switches for the hot water heater, one for electric one for propane! I’m not sure how or who determines which water heater is installed in a unit?
If you have a propane unit you can convert yours to propane/110 for about $500.

What has not been mentioned is that on the outside of the water heater
(at least on most) is there is a on/off switch on the bottom of the water
heater for the electric and if you are going to use the electric part of the
water heater that switch must be turned on.

That only applies to Suburban brand water heaters which Cavie mentioned in post #10. Most Thor MHs use Atwood water heaters which do not have an external switch.

That’s an interesting comment....why did you feel the need to dump the water before hooking up?

Because the campground has no sewer hookups and I would of been full in a day or so and would have to unhook and go dump.

You didn't state that is was grey or black
It sounded like you just meant the potable water tank

It was the grey water tank as the dealer had no way to dump it and left in in the tank. as most campground in the west are water and electric only, I noticed it as I left home but had no place to dump it until I got to the dump station at the camp ground.
