2021 E-Series recall

At this point there may not be any Class C's with 2021 E-Series chassis underneath...

May want to check, however:

Just for not getting the insulation properly installed?

And I thought one of the features of the new engine/chassis was going to be less heat on the doghouse. Guess not,

The ones they're building now, and have been for a while now, are 2021. There was no "2020" model. They went straight from 2019 (V10) to 2021 (V8). If you have the V8 Godzilla, you have a 2021.

I wouldn’t read much into this. The 2021 E-Series started production in January of 2020 and the recall dates go back to May of 2019 according to report, when 2019 E-Series with V10 were still in production.

The doghouse wasn’t changed so a bad insulation job isn’t the engine’s fault anyway. Somebody just screwed up and QA didn’t notice it right away.

Area around new engine should be cooler.

This is not a thing.(letterman reference)
Thor didn't recall for it and axis people sure know how hot it gets on the doghouse.
There have been recalls for dumber stuff, but probably not for less serious stuff.

I have to wonder if in these odd times how a recall might somehow be profitable due to govt allowances and tax deduction.

Worst case, they're putting a strip of insulation in a gap between other insulation blankets.

We got a recall on our Vegas yesterday. We didn't notice extreme temperatures around our doghouse but I have nothing better to do so I'll go visit Ford.

That’s a crazy thing to do a recall for. So many of us dynamat or doghouses anyways. If I got a notice I would just tell them to send me a roll and save us both some time and money

Does the Axis/Vegas use a standard Ford E series doghouse? If not Ford may do nothing.

You're probably right but in the event it's something else it will be there for Ford to fix. I'm retired and don't mind looking at some new Ford products while I'm there. I also don't want to have to listen to DW reminders about a recall that I ignored [emoji854]

I just got the recall notice from Thor. It talks about "the factory engine cover" and goes on to say that the insulation may be lacking underneath. Presumably Thor buys the stripped E350 chassis including an engine cover an then integrates it with Thor's dash. Weird for an RV builder that should be used to supplying their own doghouse. Maybe there are ventilation issues that require the Ford supplied cover.

Then it goes on to say that Ford will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module to reduce temperatures under the dog house at certain idle conditions.

Anyone really understand this. Is it really necessary and what are the pros and cons of reprogramming?

I picked up my new Axis in January and is too darn cold here in Ct now to check for temps around the doghouse.

This is how Ford show E-Series stripped chassis in their ads. That’s not to say they may not offer an optional engine cover, but I have never seen one mentioned.
