ACE finish

Got a 2014 ace. bought used. Worst outside finish I have ever seen. Interior furniture vinyl is just as bad. Never saw anything like it.

Now this is an Instant Classic Post

You have got to give us more.

1. - You are a restoration specialist and plan to fix it up and sell it and triple your money maybe?

2. - You bought it online, prepaid and went to pick it up and you are distraught about what you actually saw versus the pictures?

Speaking of pictures, they would be lovely in this case. I hope this turns out well for whatever you may be seeking.

You bought a 7 year old unit used and are complaining about what you bought. Who forced you into this purchase?

Well you own it now so you might as well make the most of it. I bet a good wash and wax will do wonders. Not so sure about the inside. Hopefully you got a deal on it. Congrats either way.

We are making the most of it. Don't buy on line and commit.

Thanks for coming back, thanks for being a good sport. Now let us figure out a way to help you. There are many that can help, but you may need to divide your quests; so you may have focused help. i.e I am of no use with the Vinyl repairs; but I can tell you how to make that coach finish looks brand new.

It starts with knowing a little about your DIY capabilities, or desires to even do it yourself. It will help... if you feel like you have saved money the way you purchased, then accept that and take some of that money (saving) to fix it up; so you don't feel as bad. As far as we know you got the best deal ever

But my money says to get on the finish right away; so it looks nice where ever it is while you fix a few things on the inside.

Congratulations on your new RV

DK is right.
Tell us what you're asking and let us know how we can help.
Your blind complaint about a blind purchase isn't going to get you anywhere.

We're pretty good at helping if you're pretty good at asking and accepting.

Since you now own it, start at the front and work your way back. Give it a thorough cleaning. Then try a spray on wipe off wax. Just do the front, and see how it goes. If the product doesn't work, try another. When you find one that works, work your way down the sides and finish up with the back end. On the inside, throw some cheap seat covers on the driving seats and some plush throws on the couch while you search for an upholstery shop or replacement furniture. Most importantly, get out there and use the thing, you already own it.

Yins ( if you are from Pittsburgh) have any pics? If the outside finish is calk the best course is to buff with a compound then a polish, followed by a wax. I have detailed tons of boats and you would be surprised by how you can bring back a mirror finish. It will take time and a lot of work or $$ to have someone else do the work. Sometimes it is worth farming it out to someone with all the tools and get it down in a day.

ACE finish fix

I had similar experience and used the polyglo product to remove the oxidation and applied the polyglo finish.
Now looks like new.
You can pick up polyglo on Amazon or their website.

Ace finish

I have a 2015 ACE 27.1 my finish is oxidized too and the decals are all dull and cracked too, been like that since we bought it in 2016, tried wax, buffing it, even ceramic coating, it is what it is even covered storage since we bought hasn’t help but the only place my vinyl has come apart is the skirts on the bottom of the front seats. We cut them off since we got seat covers.Back to the exterior I figure if we keep it long enough probably just strip the decals and go with all over paint.

My outside finish looks like crap too. It is too big for me to buff, waiting till I sell it to hire a pro...

The furniture inside will self destruct over time, plan on finding a shop that does marine or car interiors. I have heard from $1200 to $2000 to redo with a better covering.

7yrs old, you probably need new tires, and the jacks will start giving you trouble because they will start leaking at some point. I replaced all mine last year, tires this year. And put a serpentine belt on the motor.

Have fun!

ACE finish

Put new tires on this year they were dated 06/14 only had 17k on them, no cracks but……… Have replaced one leveler hose that blew out at the pump, made a hell of a mess.Replaced the stereo head unit with a pioneer and got a alignment in16.In 17 went to Pensacola and slide controller went out and put a bigger road master sway bar up front and got a wilderness memory foam king mattress. In 18 put sumo springs on front, went to padre island nothing broke!!! 2020 we’ll, you know didn’t take any big trips. 2021 rear sway bar bracket broke on a short trip, fixed that and added a trac bar and went to Pensacola again with a MKX toad, 6 yrs later and at 21K lots of little stuff like kitchen faucet and drain, new led taillights to replace the water logged ones, replaced heater sail switch, slide awning that fell off on one end, windshield wiper arm that fell off,the weatherstrip that holds the windshield popped out and leaked during a downpour, and replaced the outside shower and few other problems I forget I still have the original coach batteries but have replaced chassis battery twice!!!!! Ahhhh the life of the RVer.

No fault of yours, you can't fixed cracked decals nor expect any positive results putting ceramic on top of oxidized and dull finishes.

My money says for $600 - $700 you can hire a professional that can restore the finish. Decals no, but once done, you could put the ceramic spray on top if you wish to use ceramic spray. I just stick with Regular Meguiars Pure RV/Marine Wax #56 twice a year and I am good, still looks factory new after 2 years
