Is there a better reason to not leave your rear camera turned on all the time if towing something? Might have been enough time to disconnect and save one of the vehicles.

I wouldn’t! If I’ve got a fire near the 80 gallon gas tank I believe I’d light a shuck out, call 911 and watch it burn. That’s what I’ve got insurance for.

Yeah but you're not watching the camera all the time; hopefully you keep your eyes on the road at least a little bit. (Unless you are one of the people on here who moved the rear camera display to a separate monitor closer to eye level than the radio.)

Even so, you'd think you'd notice a fire starting up back there out of the corner of your eye.

Isn't that what the DW's for...... if you have one? She can be keeping an eye on the camera while you keep your eyes on the road.

I have my rear camera on all the time when towing.

Quite often the DW is strapped into the theater seats ready her Nook as we are rolling. Only time she habitually rides the co-pilot sat is the first hour and the last hour upon my request for possible navigation assistance.

I also keep the rear view camera on while rolling.

Ruined somebody's vacation. The rest of their lives they will occasionally recall, "Hey remember when my mother-in-law got really really angry because I put her in the back of the RV and refused to allow her to control everything and tell me what to do so her eyes got really really red until lazer beams shot out of them and caught the RV on fire?"

Crazy fire

About 2 weeks ago on St Augustine beach a guy decided to drive his 40 ft class A coach into the drivable beach. Needless to say he only got about 10 yards before being stuck. But rather than giving up and deciding to get a tow, he continued to spin his wheels until they got so hot that they caught fire.
The coach ended up burning to the ground. Not sure what kind of coach it was, too burned to tell.
We just could not believe anyone would be so crazy to try it

Yeah I thought about taking our coach onto South Padre Island beach but decided over 37,000 lbs was not a match for any type of sand.

Agreed... And I also hope that they had excellent insurance professionals; to give them a hand with settling this claim...

Looks like a older Gas Class A. Graphics seem to be a bit dated and the center post for the windshield is there.

That is truly burnt.

I used to have a 2017 Thor Synergy on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis. It weighed in a bit over 11,000 lbs. I took that right onto the beach at South Padre Island a few times. It was great no problems at all. I wouldn't go beyond that weight just like you're not.

My Sprinter is a road-going pleasure-craft. The furthest it'll ever get off-road: if I back it into the Missus' flower garden!

“road going pleasure craft”? Are you hauling a bunch of ladies around in there?

I was a fire investigator for over 20 years. The one thing I'm pretty sure of is you can't determine cause and origin via videos.[emoji4]
