Auto leveling

My RV was level so I put the slides out. Now, a month later, it is not level. Should I pull the slides back in before I try to relevel it, or should I leave them out?

You can manually adjust level with the slides out. I would not use the auto function roller coaster ride.

My Hurricane settles and the longer it sits the more it settles. Once a month I pull in the slide, start the genset and re-level it using the auto level feature. It is one button and does not produce a roller coaster ride. It only takes a couple of minutes.

Learn how to manually level. It gives you much more control. It's easy, reliable and gentle.

The omni I used to have had the ultra level and it WAS violent. As such I never used the auto level feature. On mine the jacks would settle over time and you could hear an occasional pop when they did. Just a bit of manual re-leveling and all good. Not necessary to bring slides in if it's just a slight bit out of level. I also wouldn't use the level system determination of level, use a real level that's at least 1' long.

Look into getting Snap Pads put on as well. They increase the surface area and are great for sandy or gravel.

Even worse, auto or manual leveling.

Surely it depends if your fresh water tank is more than 1/3 full.

As a general rule, I retract the slide-out and re-level. I like to keep the weight and CG close to the center of the RV, when leveling. The ACE has the entire LHS on a slide out. It's protecting your slide rollers and tracks.

Slowing down and starting from Scratch while leveling, jacking and using slide outs as well as an orderly fashion for turning on your electrical systems can only help us out.

I have also started using manual leveling exclusively. I like to keep all 4 wheels on the earth, The Auto leveling will raise the wheels off the ground, and i find that un-necessary.

Question. Is there a way to use manual leveling and retract the Jacks? I see that there is only extend. So if i just want to raise the rear jacks, i have to use RETRACT ALL JACKS switch.

I have also purchased some Marine grade 3 X 10 lumber, this is a nice way to protect your jack feet. I screw an eyelet in the end with a chord and lawn mower "T" handle. i have been doing this for a yr. and the wooden blocks show wear from all the gravel RV spaces i have used. see pictures below. You can't find these at Home Depot or LOWES, go to a local lumber store.

I only have to get down and center the lumber when jacking the RV. When leaving the RV spot, i just walk around an pull the "T" handle, and drag out the block and store it in the side compartment, always check the RV spot when departing the RV resort, and make sure you dont leave these behind!!!...

I think Scubawise is still responding to the RV Black tank blog above.....
I don't know that there is a way to retract individual or pairs of jacks, but if you put the control panel in Manual then the Retract button only retracts them when it's pushed instead of retracting all the jacks all the way up.

Manual jack retract function

OK I had to try it. Yes this works good, you can momentarily press the RETRACT ALL JACKS, as the jacks retract, when you lift finger, the jacks will stop. Right now i am jacking the Azz end up to have all the water run off of the front of the RV during the heavy rains, so the front jacks are retracted up and rear jacks are adjusted accordingly.

I thought this was an all or nothing switch, where you pressed it, and all jacks raised, whether you lifted you finger or not.

I know this is off the main Blog topic here.

FYI this is the 2021 THOR ACE 30.4. My last Class C RV was a Freedom Elite AUTO drive up and onto the AUTOZONE car ramps, and carpenters bubble level.

That depends on which leveling system you have. The omni I had ultra level which in my opinion is the lowest level and quality leveling system made. You can push the manual button and when you push retract, all jacks will retract while the retract button is pushed. I would push it momentarily to try to ease it down rather than it being dumped down abruptly like "all retract" would do. Still jerky though.

On the Valencia it has the Equalizer leveling system and I can extend or retract jacks in pairs. On my Itasca with HWH and Raptor with Level-up they could do that also. The jacks in these systems also moved much more smoothly.

I also do not like a tire off the ground when attempting to level so I also carry some boards to put under the offending tire so it has weight on it. With the omni with limited front suspension travel, a forward sloping site was the worst, back sloping the best.

I had to "just say no" to Snap Pads. Not enough ground clearance. They won't work on all rigs... and Lord knows I tried!

i had a leveling problem and got a message retrac timedout return to service center. i assumed since the chasis battery was low and had to use the aux start that was the problem. let unit run for about 10 min then rived engine up 2000 rpms and released the parking brake with that held enter button and retrac button and wait came non then i shut leveler off turned back on and pushed auto level and it worked
