Auto leveling and slide

Hello all! We have a brand new Tiburon 24 motorhome and it's our first slide. From what we understand the unit should be leveled first and then the slide put out. This all has to be done with the motor running. Would the opposite be true when getting packed up to leave? Slide in, jacks up, in that order? The issue for us is, when we start the motorhome to initiate that procedure the auto leveling jacks go up at that point, before we can ever get the slide in. What is the bet procedure/order to do this in? Thanks for any tips!!

Michael

Jacks down, slides out. When leaving, slides in then jacks up. Do not use the auto-level i f you can avoid it. Get used to manual leveling. Example: front jacks down first, rear jacks down second...then one side or the other...jist enough to where it feels reasonably level. Forget the bubbles...just walk around and feel it.

Thanks!

The issue is when leaving I don't have a chance to pull the slide in because as soon as I start the engine to operate the slide the jacks go up automatically. For some reason mine has to have the engine running to operate the slide and the jacks.

On my rig slides and jacks do not operate if the engine is running.

Try retracting the slide before starting the engine. Our prior Challenger would not start with the slides extended

Our 2022 requires the engine to be running in Park with the parking brake set in order to either extend or retract the jacks. The slides will operate with or without the engine running however.

thanks! Ours is a 2023

And it seems it has to be running but I'll do a test and see if the slide will operate with just the ebrake engaged

If it's a voltage issue, keep the shore power connected until slides are in. Or run the generator to keep voltage up.

I have one of the computer panels that monitor everything. On the slide menu it says engine running and parking brake on. We were connected to shore power and the slide wouldn't operate until the engine was started. So far there is no way to bring the slide in first as starting the engine triggers the raising of the jacks.

Well, my plan would be to dig in an start rewiring to make stuff work in a logical manner. Disconnect and bypass the idiot sensors. But that's just me...

That doesn't sound right.

What leveling/stabilizing system do you have?
Most well retract automatically with the engine running AND the transmission out of park. Sounds like you have a flakey switch/sensor.

According to the Lippert manual for our leveling system, if the engine is started and the parking brake is then disengaged all jacks will auto retract. I agree with @ Chateau_Nomad and @Geterdun and suspect a faulty sensor might be involved.

We have a Delano and we level with engine on the shut engine off. Then with either shore power on or generator running put the slide out. Then same in reverse. We don't have engine on any time with slide operating.

Neither slides nor awning work with engine running, in park, brakes set. And engine has to be running with brake on and in park for levelers. My guess is Thor wired a relay to the wrong thing.

Depends on the leveling system. Mine requires engine and ignition OFF and brake set. Starting the engine automatically raises the jacks.

Mine are aftermarket Big Foot... installed at their facility. They just need a good solid 12 volts to operate. The only "safety" is a jacks down alarm if the ignition switch is turned to ON.

Don't know about the slide (yet). But I ALWAYS have the engine OFF, e-brake set and coach level before operating the slide.

It drives me absolutely bonkers when sensors and so-called safety devices operate in a non-intuitive way. My theory is you MUST be smarter than the device you are operating, have a basic understanding of how the device works... and be prepared to accept the consequences of your unfortunate mistakes.

I've recovered from some really stupid mistakes... but I learn from each one!
