Can you change the "Paint job" on your MH?

I am the owner of an Axis 24.1 for 2.5 years now. Like almost every other RV on the road, it has a gel coat and a whole bunch of swooshes and swirl decals. I hate it. I think this design is more than ugly. But I may be stuck with it. Why does every manufacturer have to put these stupid decals all over the RVs? Is there a way to get rid of them and not have them leave their mark in the gel coat? I removed on of these swirls with a heat gun and a plastic scrapper. It came off with a good amount of effort, but certainly you can see where it was. Does anyone agree with me? A nice two-tone gel coat without all the busy-ness of these decals would look soooo much better (like some of the vintage RV). Is there a way to remove these decals without leaving their imprint on the gel coat?

There are numerous YouTube videos showing removal of decals from gelcoat... both boats and RVs, which are essentially the same. If you watch as many of those vids as possible, followed by research on the subject, you will discover the short answer:

No, you cannot eliminate the decal "imprint" where the gelcoat has faded. Unlike paint, the color is baked into the gelcoat. You generally have two choices... replace the decals with exact duplicates, or have them painted.

I would suggest a consult with a detailing professional who knows their stuff. They MAY be able to use cutting compound to lessen the effect, but don't count on it being invisible.

No.
Never.
I'll see the ghosting every time.
But
I like the soft 'ghost' the swooshes leave behind when they've left.

And
A vehicle wrap will be $3,000+ but well worth the effort.
Also
Look up
DipYourCar
On you tube.

The zwooshes are there because many rv's, ESPECIALLY Axis/Vegas, look like a Thames bread truck without them.

People that say money can't buy happiness just don't know where to shop. Anything can be done for the right price. Find a really good body shop and let em at it.

Presumably you live in the good old US of A. Remember one of our national mottos, "If you got the money, honey, I got the time". Someone will go honky tonkin with you if you got the right amount of coin.

I had my 2015 Windsport 27K stripped and painted at RV Clearcoat in Plant City Florida in 2018. No swirls or swooshes, and we love it! It still today looks like it just rolled out of the paint shop.

Nice work!
Realizing that year 2018 was pre-inflation…
- what was the price of the paint job?

Several folks on other forums have taken their Coaches to Mexico for a complete paint job.

They all seem to be very happy and about 1/2 the 50-60 grand for a large class A in the states

I keep mine waxed and hopefully never need a paint job. If I do it will be exactly like the factory Sikkens with all the swirls and 4 colors.

Same here. Just moved from Montana to NM.
Keep it waxed cleaned dust off.
Hopefully this inexpensive process keeps us happy

You could get it "wrapped" which in my opinion would be better and loads cheaper than paint.

Here is a unique wrap job that shows how far you can take your ideas

You know if you can find some of those swirl patterns decals... it would really bring that color out

Do you by any chance have pictures of the before? 3 years and a strip and paint. Wow
