Mice in RV and engine area

Anyone have issues like this? What have you done/used to fix the problem? I’m thinking of installing ultrasonic devices to get rid of any critters.
Thanks,
Dave

We load up all the hiding places with cotton balls soaked with peppermint oil.
Never had a problem!

Remove all food.
Set traps with food In them.
My mice don't care about mint oil or Irish spring soap or cedar flakes.

Fill all gaps with stainless steel wool, they'll eat anything else.

Ultrasonics sorta work.
Some peoplle can hear them and it makes them a little nuts.

A mouse climbed under my hood chewed nothing except the power wire to the ultrasonic. Not Only chewed it through, it removed about a 2 inch section by chewing it through again.

My ultrasonics killed the batteries eventually. I have maybe six of them.

The one at our remote gate slows them down considerably, but some dont seem to care and poop there anyway.

I use sticky traps with small pieces of candy bar in the center. Place them right out in the open inside your coach. If the critters are inside they’ll find them and its easy to check and deal with if you catch one. Check often. You also can place traps outside either old fashioned spring traps or box traps if pets are a concern. Good luck.

You would think that by now, somebody would have figured out a mouse trap that works. Most of the traps work you and take money out of your pockets.

Watch the video where they evaluated a Victor Ultrasonic repeller with a light, the mice just had a party, free food, free music and disco lights

For those truly sincere,Gemplars sell sticky trap glue in gallon cans .
Of course I bought a can.
Just the threat seemed to drive off the packrats.
Four years and I still haven't opened the can.

I've used Fresh Cab from Tractor Supply...a bit pricey but it works. It was developed by a farmer that had problems with mice and rats in all his farm equipment. Place them along the frames and suspension parts that the mice use as their "first jump" into the equipment. Also, lay them on the engine near wiring clusters. The soy content instead of the old fashioned rubber coating in the wire covering is what attracts them. I don't have an issue with killing them but I don't want them to eat the poison then crawl into the ducts and die. This product will just keep them away.

I have snakes in the shop.

I had caught a vole and kept it in a 5gallon bucket to see if he'd tame and be a shop pet.
He disappeared
I tried it with an odd shaped mouse I caught. Not rat, not mouse, not vole...
He disappeared.
I thought 'damn those are high jumps.'
About 9 months later I'm thinking of how high they jumped and I remembered the two snakes I had turned loose inside and the six or so outside.(I gather them on bike rides during their hibernation awakening period. I don't care what kind if they're not poisonous. I've probably picked up 50 and brought to the property)

Cat turds stink and the snakes have never crapped in my drivers seat or shoe just to be spiteful.

We have a few feral cats we see on occasion, if we see one three times in a year it's memorable and I doubt we've ever seen the same cat three times. They won't eat here at the house and I've never seen them drink from the stock tanks. Just a pass through.

The picture might be the reason.
THAT'S a cat.
Our local rat getter. Pic taken from my living room chair.

Nice bobcat. Looks like about 25 lbs. Around here we have gray foxes that eat everything that moves than is small than them. A vixen with her kits is about the cutest thing, ever. Especially when she it teaching them to hunt.

We have quite a predator crew here.
I found a picture of the GIANT feral cat we saw twice.

We never see babies. Not even the skunks. Small but not baby bunnies.
It was 7 years before the deer brought spotted fawns Up. This is the first year. Always brought them as soon as they were out of spots, but this year they brought up one month olds.

I've tried about everything and the only things that works for me are predators. Rattlesnakes, feral cats, coyotes, bobcats, mouser type dogs have all worked well at keeping down the mouse/rat population. I might try the fresh cab stuff if Amazon has it in stock.

I have had good results so far with Tomcat Rodent Repellent. It is available at most building supply like Lowes and Home Depot.
The lot where I store the RV used to have a large feral cat that did a good job, but guess a coyote got him.

Skunks are great mousers as well but do have a bit of a down wind issue

I'll bet they do a good job of keeping the catalytic converter thieves away also!

I spray some deer repellant around the outside on the ground and underneath on the pad. And around the wheels where they touch the blocks. Works for me have not had any inside since I started applying this in the fall a couple of years ago.

Ortho Deer B Gon Deer and Rabbit Repellent on Amazon.

I tried the same thing with Elephant Repellent...
It must work: I've never even seen one!

Dave,
Over the years I have tried, steel wool, mouse traps, ultra sonic devices, dryer sheets, dear repellent, peppermint oil, moth balls and more. Last summer I stumbled on a product in an Amish general store used for gophers and ground squirrels. I sprinkled it over my lawn and had no more problems.

This last fall I decided to try it for my motorhome to keep them out of my generator. I realized the only way they could get into the engine or generator compartments was to climb up the tires. So I sprinkled this product on the ground surrounding the entire RV every time I exercised the generator, usually monthly. It is non poisonous for pets, no obnoxious odor for humans and relatively cheap. One 3lb container treats the ground (even with a foot of snow) around my 37' RV at least 3 times and cost about $15.

https://www.bonide.com/products/gard...s-all-granules

I haven't even seen foot prints in the snow of rabbits that used to nest in the battery compartment. I wish I would have discovered this product years ago, before spending hundred of dollars in generator repairs.
