Fridge ????

I just got a 2016 Windsport 35c all the sites I read say it has a propane /electric full size fridge but I can't figure it out there should be a switch on top for auto/gas /off but there is nothing there.my last Windsport had it so I am thinking it's just 120v.that sucks. I emailed Thor for a build sheet but no reply yet. Anyone know anything about the 35c. Thanks Tux

You should have a build sheet in the coach, normally inside a cabinet; or:
You can create an account on the Thor Owners Resource website with your VIN and get your build sheet there as well as the manual for your fridge.

It’s 8 years old. Perhaps the previous owner(s) swapped it out for something different. Is there a label inside? What make and model of fridge?

Thanks guys.I tried to get on Thor resource page but no luck would not let me finish.tried everything but no luck will try again. The may have been changed but with only 7400 miles on it it has very little use. But miles have nothing to do with the fridge .tried entering Model # and ser# but no luck.I may have to wait to Thor to get back to me on the build sheet.still looking Tux

On the outside of our RV with a 120V/Propane refrigerator there is an easily removeable panel for access to the propane burner (and a 120V elec outlet). I suggest you post a picture of the 'fridge and remove the access panel and post a picture of what is in there.

If it has a compressor it is residential. Propane/electric fridges do not have compressors and when on 115 VAC operation the ammonia gas is heated by resistive electric heaters. When on propane that heat source is from a propane flame. As mentioned, if it is absorption it should have a roof vent and a side vent. If it has been swapped out for a straight residential you should be able to glean that from removing that lower vent cover. You may notice that the propane line has been capped off and you may see a compressor.

Here are two pics of the outside of the MH and my fridge.I think I'm screwed and it is only 120.Are some of the electric fridges both 120v/12v? Also has anyone e-mailed Thor customer service in the past and how long did you wait for a reply Thanks Tux.

The pics look like polar bears in a snow storm.

No 120 VAC/12 VDC fridges that I am aware of. Would it matter? the energy still has to come from the batteries either directly or through an inverter.

We always had 120 VAC/Propane fridges in our RVs. The one in our ACE worked great, better that any I had before, until it didn't. We replaced it with a residential fridge at 1/8th the price and gained more internal space and a freezer that keeps ice cream rock hard. It also sips electricity using much less than I had anticipated.

So if you do have a 120 VAC only fridge (post those pics) it isn't the end of the world.

Hire a professional to walk you through all aspects of your rv.
He would think to open that fridge access and will also think of where and how the water pump etc is.

I know it is not the end of the world but propane would be nice while traveling instead of the genny.i know the fridge will remain cold while traveling but some places you cannot run your Genny. I do carry a small Honda 2000 Genny a lot cheaper to run than the 5500 genny

You should have an inverter.
No need to run the generator for the fridge while traveling.
The alternator should supply current to the inverter to create the 120 VAC the fridge needs while traveling.

Don't know where you were looking (doesn't matter since it's wrong), but the Thor factory brochure for the 2016 Windsport explicitly states that the 34 and 35 series coaches have residential fridges.

That means there is an inverter that powers the fridge from your coach battery bank. It may a separate inverter unit (my '18 29M has a 2nd unit stashed under a bedroom door close to the fridge) or it may be fed off the inverter for the entertainment and related receptacles.

See the attached 2016 Windsport Brochure.

You have an 11 cu ft residential fridge and an 1800 watt inverter.

You stated a couple times you couldn't register with Thor to obtain your units records and manuals

Are you using https://www.thormotorcoach.com/owners

if so maybe share the problem and someone will be able to help you register.
