You live in?

Livonia is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 95,535 at the 2020 census, which ranked it as Michigan's ninth most-populated municipality. Livonia is a part of Metro Detroit and is located about 2 miles west of the city limits of Detroit, separated only by Redford Township

Ah, you say didn't cost you anything. Remember the annual dues and and thousands of dollars you paid for this luxury. We have had a time share for over 20 years and it certainly hasn't been free. Plus you can't get rid of it with out it costing you dearly.

I think those things are traps because most people that buy them can't afford to travel enough to make them cost effective. You seem like the exception.

You did not say what the membership start up costs were; but you spent about $20k. I assume transportation travel costs and rentals are not included? We did a round trip to Hawaii and spent around $2,200 a long while back. Enjoyed seeing the USS Arizona and the baking the pig in the dirt thing It was kind of cool, but we never went back. I was kind of shocked to learn that some of the Islands were private and normal US citizens not true Hawaiian decent were not allowed to visit. Just wasn't my vibe.

Future travel and past 15 years or so for us has always been the All Inclusive. When we travel like that; that is what I want. I pay more up front but it is the only way a financially conscious person like me will actually have a good time. I shop for All Inclusive bargains that have known airline & hotels. It is foolproof. I have Champagne with breakfast just to ensure I end up beating the system

Fuel cost

I just traveled from Indiana (up north by Lake Michigan) to Orange Beach. Alabama and back. Diesel fuel ran about $1,450.00 round trip.

LET'S GO BIDEN!

So you got 1 vote, until you count all the votes I don't know. You must have at least one of the Golden Retrievers agree with Lora. I am gonna tell you right now, if one does; I demand a recount.

All kiddin aside... you da man

I was invited on one of the rare scuba dives on the Arizona. No cost to me, just needed someone trustworthy to fill a spot(and they might have wanted to use my handheld underwater sonar that acted like a Batman mapping system to see through muck)
I didn't know the dive was a big thing.

Our motto has always been
Do not boldly go where 10,000 people have gone before.
I messed up...sorta.
I'd have had an experience no one cares about.
I've never log-booked a dive in my life.

but I'm sure they filled the spot with someone who was excited to go.
I'll never have a chance again. I just didn't care to do it.

Cleaning fees, annual fees, year+ of advance notice...we just couldn't do timeshare. We've been guests of those folks who have one, just didnt fit.

Hawaii #1 true story we met on pof.com and after 1 month I told her I had a 2 week try alone planned for Hawaii.
Lora was a h.s. principal at the time and could not get off.well she decided she was coming

Good thing about viresorts.com is we can travel to all islands and pay nothing. They help with travel arrangements and rentals..

If flying we find the best zero interest card from an airline with cash back..use and cancel after our trips

So..... ScubaDuckwise

Next time I am in Galveston, I gonna invite someone with a Deep Sea fishing boat, and some Deep Sea fishing gear to go with me. I will have the Bait & Beer in Cooler ready to go

Best thing about Timeshare for me, are all of the free vacations, golf clubs etc. I have received just being qualified to sit down a half day and listen to the sales pitch. Talk about a beat down having to play the game with straight face for 4 hours. One year we got a full set including Driver and Woods of Taylor Mades that I gave to my son, he was on the HS golf team at the time and it was all the rave

I've dived the Colorado from boulder to castle dome

Alamo lake is a hidden fishing and RV dream spot.

https://www.superyachttimes.com/yach...m-ocean-safety

I have an older Royal Marines military version of a mini b with me almost all of the time. Fully kitted.
I've not used it in quite a few years. The last time I used it was to rescue lawn furniture in South dakota on a lake that flooded and stole everyone's chairs and bbq's..

We were freshwater treasure hunters. The diving was just a way to the bottom.

The boat that runs charter(maybe they don't do it anymore) to the b29 at the bottom of lake mead, that was one of my boats. I sold it to them.

Yes we always do half day and listen to the sales pitch.
Free shows and dinner in Vegas common
With gas prices campers will do more of these

I've done only one of those with a friend who did it as a hobby who sorta tricked us into it and we were captive.
We got $100 casino credit. You couldn't deny it due to their charter/the law.
I am not 'clean' to this very day.

I'm not mean to telemarketers and I won't stroke some salesman who works on commission.

We wanted to see the new Pacifica.
I asked the salesman who upped us if he wanted $50 to demo the car so we could knowledgeably buy one private party(no sales tax) or tell his buddies we weren't an up and get his place back in rotation.
He took the fifty.

I'm not much for me first excpet in dire circumstance.
I've got mine.
If the salesman had his, he wouldnt he selling time shares.

Nothing wrong with being a telemarketer; unless you harass folks that don't want to be bothered. I spend a great portion of my time trying to get them to stop and get off of list after list after list. Nothing more annoying than being in meeting or important call when these telemarketer calls come in, and in most cases it is a computer call or text. So I not only hate them, but I deplore the practice.

Problem with Salesmen selling Timeshares is that it is mostly deception, some people only see beautiful vacation resorts and the word free, no money down and sign something they simply can't get out of without an attorney, or some sort of special agency. With the exception of Scuba it is rare that I hear of someone raving about how great their timeshare is/was, but it is with great regularity you see your peers complaining about how to get out of one. You can cite caveat emptor, but I recall about 10 years ago we were considering a new house, had everything worked out, but they WOULD NOT let us see or take home the HOA Agreement until we actually bought the house Of course we passed and I am glad we did. We keep RV and a Boat at our house today; which is about 2 miles from the neighborhood we did not move into.

In both cases, the consumer does not get to make the rules, they have to learn how to play the game or get their wallets stripped.
