If the route for the day requires using major freeways/interchanges in or near major metro areas... I'm spending a LOT of screen time BEFORE the wheels start turning. Looking at satellite views on Google Maps... making sure the Garmin route matches the Google Maps route.

Sure it takes a little extra time, but I really hate avoidable surprises. Too many unexpected events can and will happen - spending even an hour with meticulous visual planning certainly alleviates some of the stress.

Don't get me wrong here, the jeep navigation has problems as well. It often routes me to the back door of places like Lowes, Home Depot, or Sam's Club. I think it is set up this way to benefit delivery drivers sending them to the delivery entrance.
Tells me which lane to be in at least 1/2 mile. It tells me about turns and exits well in advance.

Works fine but then I consider myself to be 10 percent smarter than the item I’m working with and don’t expect any piece of consumer technology to serve anything in a golden platter.

Twice I missed a turn along the way and I was instructed to make a u-turn. Neither was safe to do, and in both cases further down the road were shopping plazas that were easy to navigate.

Today I was told to go down a road that ended up being a dead end. I had to disconnect my tow dolly, turn the RV around, then reattach tow dolly and car. Loosing close to an hour of time.

Is there something more reliable to use as a GPS for an RV safe route, or are they all somewhat the same?

The RV Life GPS app is a disaster. We stopped using it more than a year ago. We have been using Truck Map app with some pretty good success.

Just finished installing a Kenwood DNX775RVS navigation radio in my RV. This radio in intended to provide navigation for Bus, RV, and Truck navigation. I happen to have a known road with a 5-ton weight limited bridge. My motorhome has a GVWR of 9-tons. I planned a trip to a location that would take me over that bridge with a "normal" navigation radio or google maps, but the RV navigation radio properly routed around that bridge. The area is around a residential golf course development. The software found a route through the development without taking a huge detour.
