I shoulda’

ACE 30.2

Hitting the road for a multi week trip. Done plenty of state parks a few hours from home and blessed with no hiccups.

To all you seasoned vets: give me three things to be aware of and maybe get ahead of before we shove off.

Have a safe and fun trip!
Do you have an itinerary all planned out?
Throw it away, and enjoy each day for what it turns out to be.
Relax, put down the "To-do" list, and let the wind carry you with it.
One more thing: take pictures for the rest of us!

Tire pressures set for weight of coach. Get gas above half a tank. Fill up with fresh water and dump tanks when available. Above all, enjoy the trip and don't worry about rig failures.

- Put together a kit of common tools. Stuff happens and having common tools with you can help you easily fix many things. Include a roll of Eternabond Tape in your kit in case a leak develops.

- Carry spare fuses

- Top off all fluids..... engine , transmission, generator, propane, etc.

Hi KKV

Take your time on the road. Pick scenic off the highway locations. Enjoy the great outdoors. Have a safe and fun trip.

Don’t hurry - 300 miles per day after a leisurely breakfast will get you there and you can stop by mid afternoon for a walk and a nice dinner.

Bring tools, spare parts, patience and a sense of humor

Buy a TPMS and/or check your tire pressure daily.

Have fun! (Fourth tip is a freebie!)

Stay off the interstate unless you like billboards and exit signs. The real America is on secondary trucking roads. You will be amazed at what you see.

Use the 2-2-2 method. An oldtimer gave me this routine - drive 200 miles a day, only drive 2 days in a row then spend at least 2 days parked somewhere, pull in each site by 2PM for daylight set-up and early happy hour.

Trip Advisor is awesome. Every morning we look at where we are, where we are going and what’s in between. Instead of driving extra hours we go off the path and explore. There are places we would have never experienced going from point A to point B.

Stop at a local family run supermarket - no name brands - go in the deli and see what local cuisine they have and buy some.

Shop Mom and Pop stores. It is amazing what you will find. Go into local antique stores and try to figure out what the heck this gadget is.

And most importantly have fun.
