No Brake Lights

I have a 2018 Thor ACE 30.3, I attempted to change the rear tail lights to LED and have run into a frustrating snag. All directionals, running lights and reverse lights are working. No brake lights. I have tried every combination and tested all fuses under the hood.

Any suggestions of others with this issue? Is there another fuse box on the f53 chassis I should be testing?

Thanks,

Jim

Do your hazards work at the rear? If not, check fuse F18 under the hood. If they do, then check fuse F08 in the Ford-supplied Central Junction Box. It's usually hiding down in front of your left foot on the firewall, mounted to the lower left side of the steering column, or mounted under a cover immediately forward of the instrument cluster.

If it's in that first position, it helps if you are very small; and happen to be a contortionist to reach it. If mounted in this spot, it's above the Thor/Bussman fuse box.

That fuse is between the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch and the input to the Multi-Function Switch (MFS).

Can't answer that question without knowing what fuse box(es) you have found and tested. Have you looked in your Ford owners manual for the fuse boxes locations and diagrams?

All fuses have been checked and are good. Does anyone have a successful wiring diagram? for the LED lights?

Jim

So now we don't know your definition of "All fuses have been checked and are good." How many times have we had confident statements like that expressed here that after it is all said and done, were incorrect. Battery replacement is a common one.

And, we don't know what LED lights you are asking for a wiring diagram for. Seems that would be supplied by the LED light manufacturer. They usually provide detailed installation instruction for every case of installing the lights.

In order to make the most out of a forum when asking for help you have to provide the helpers with all the information you have, all the symptoms you have, all the troubleshooting you have done - in detail - so you can get good, useful information back to you.

Unless you have followed the SPECIFIC directions I gave you and report SPECIFIC results, it will be impossible to help you.

No brake lights.
Do you have the old (original) lights? Do the brake lights work if you hook those up? If you apply 12V directly to the brake light connections of the new LED lights do they work? I believe that LEDs are polarity specific. Is it possible the brake light LEDs were connected backwards?

This may be a bit off topic (but maybe not...). Decades ago when I bought my 1961 MGA (I was in high school) I was getting it ready for its state inspection. But I couldn't get the brake lights to work. The switch tested OK, the bulbs tested good, all the wires were intact but they wouldn't illuminate when I pressed the pedal. After much consternation I discovered that the ignition switch needed to be 'on' for the brake light circuit to get power. Who'd a thunk?

You ask for a wiring diagram. Did you change the taillight assemblies or just the bulbs. If just the bulbs put the old brake light bulbs back in and see if they still work.

With your tester, have you determined where the voltage shows up when you step on the brakes? If you get no voltage on any of the wires, it’s gotta be a fuse.

The OP has not visited this forum since the day this thread was tarted almost two weeks ago.

Until he returns with updated information, not much point in replying at this later date.

Maybe the OP found out the ignition has to be on. This seems to be yet another chapter in the “How to ghost the forum” book. Leave us all wondering and scratching heads. Hence, we move on to the next.

FWIW, the stop and hazard lamps operate independently of the ignition switch. Turn signals and reversing lamps require HOT IN RUN.
