No hot water on electric

Well here’s an issue I could use some help on. My Atwood in my entry 2015 Thor Ace 30.1 won’t heat on 115Volt. Gas is fine. Breakers fine so need to check element, relay or reset. Issue, it appears that I need to take out rear two dresser drawers to access Water heater. Outside only the gas features seem to be there. Although on the right side is some sort of control board. Owners manual useless yet has testing instruction for element and supposed reset bottom as well as relay. I can do the work but am I correct on how to get to the Atwood 6 gal unit from inside the Motorhome? Before I take things apart I’d appreciate any tips or further troubleshooting tips.

Thanks
Luke

the 'sensor' can go bad at some point with these 'dual' powered units, which I assume yours is, if you have a breaker in the RV labeled "water heater", or similar. The sensor is actually fairly easy to replace.

Yes, the 120 VAC wiring, relay, and element are accessed from the inside part of the water heater

Thanks. Is the sensor the thermostat? That’s on the outside under a black cover

Here is a proper manual, but I am guessing as no model info was given. :-/ Try page 25.

Thanks
I printed the manual. Now I need to get to backside of tank through the bedroom to continue diagnostics. The electrical testing left is all there. Oh well kind of a design headache.

The control board on these is a sketchy Chinese item and frequently fails. Much more often than the heating element for sure. If the heating element checks out and/or you’ve got no current to it your solution might be a new board. The Chinese replacement is only about $70 and a much better Dinosaur (brand) is about $100. It wouldn’t hurt to have one in your spares bag even if you find the problem elsewhere. It’s an easy 10 minute plug and play swap. Good luck.
