Shower leak

On a recent trip in our Vegas 25.1 my wife and I noticed water on the floor after taking a shower. After removing the inspection port I found that the P-trap was broken off at the drain fitting.

The p-trap appears to be a 1 1/4" fitting on the drain end and a 2" fitting on the pipe end. As usual this is not a standard size and I've tried several plumbing/hardware stores with no luck. Has anyone else run across this problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Had the same problem a few years ago. I used a flex rubber coupling and clamps from shower to trap I think. Been awhile so just going from old memory which isn't so great. Mine cracked from contact with the floor. Haven't had any problem with it since.

I've already done basically the same temporary fix that you described to get us thru the trip but I was hoping that I could find something permanent. And yes it appears that ours broke for the same reason, intend to block up the shower floor when I work this out.

I really wish that Thor would sell parts to the public!

I try to only wish for things that have a snowballs chance of happening.

I have a friend that owns a reputable independent RV repair business near my home. When I visit his shop I'm always amazed at the defects he points out. Even the high end pushers have quality issues that should never have left the manufacturer.

Us poor low end guys ain't got a prayer.

Yeah, but if you keep at it you’ll eventually get everything fixed and then you’ll probably find that even us low end guys can get many years of good service. I’m going on two years now and I think I’m getting close…..!

Had same broken trap.if you have the one with doggy drawer. Pull drawer out, gently pull panel from bottom and remove. Will give better way to work .I went to home Depot and got parts.

Another trip, another issue. The fitting holding the pee trap to the shower drain broke. Never a dull moment. If I can find the new female fitting I’ll fix it with a flexible rubber connector.

The more "rigid" you can replace with "flex" regarding under counter type RV fittings, the better. If your temp repair is working just keep an eye on it. My gray line from kitchen sink/plastic inlet into tank cracked off the top of the tank just below floor level. Dealer wanted $1,200 for repair and two months on the lot. Repaired it with a flexible setup and have had zero issues since. All it cost me was $21 and a couple bloody forearms.

The 1 1/2 to 1 1/2 3” rubber connector along with a new mobile home abs drain coupler and a hacksaw, put it back together better than before. Now I’ve got some allowance for flexing without breaking the ABS fitting. Can’t post pics due to the small area and fused cervical spine. And yes, it’s not an appropriate repair unless a little blood is left behind as a signature.

Also want to add, if you’re around Black Mountain NC and have a problem, the folks at Maddens Ace Hardware in Swannanoa NC will go out of their way to help you.

Sadly and comically, some fixes do not need pictures...our memory of having been there paints it clear enough. I think enough forearm and knuckle blood has been shed in RV repairs to solve the Red Cross shortage issue.
