Selling my coach
I am trying to sell my 2016 Thor Tuscany. It is listed in the classified section. I have been advertising it on RVTrader, RV Coach Online, and have not had one, legitimate inquiry.
I am curious as to why. The price is $169,900.
I am curious as to why? Any thoughts.

What is the model number (floor plan) of the coach? I worked for many years as a used RV appraiser.

What Tex said!
Now that the pandemic is over and the cost to own and operate an RV have ballooned, the market is growing softer by the minute.
Plus... it looks you are in California. With fuel costs, taxes and the general cost of living there, most of the people who probably could have afforded it have been moving out of California.
I plan to sell mine coach towards the end of 2024 / beginning of 2025 and I am concerned it could be tough to sell then depending on how bad the recession will have hurt the country by then.

- Complete removal of all personal items
- Detail in & out
- Take new photos including engine & storage shots
- Change oil, top-off fluids & have documentation
By doing all of the above, you now have the luxury of potentially using a reputable consignment lot (if you’re in a time sensitive situation that warrants a quick sale)
Otherwise, if you stay the course the way you are currently marketing it, plan on upwards of 12-24 months wait time to sell

Yep, all the way around. We bought ours in 2021 just as things were getting more stupid. We did got ours for 17% below MSRP. A couple weeks later the prices shot up. We looked at this as pissing money away on fun and selling it in maybe 3-5 years or having until towed to a junkyard. Selling anything expensive now a days will require a very motivated buyer most likely with cash.

Looking at RVTrader for 2016 Tuscanys I would say your price is not low enough. Buyers are not in a frenzy now and with such a terrible economy you have to be extra motivated to sell a used Thor.

the ability to finance has a lot to do with it. The year model is included in the aging so...2016-2023 makes it 8 years old. The finance terms banks will extend become shorter with the age of the coach and rates are much higher on used models versus new ones. A buyer with that amount of budget can buy much newer and spend more money, getting longer terms and have less payment...plus...a new coach warranty. You have to make it affordably inviting...unfortunately this is mostly price driven. Drop your price and talk with a few finance companies that specialize in the RV industry. They can give you great info on the real finance value and the required percentage of down payment a buyer would need to have. Then you can figure out the real value you need to set as the price.

That is the most likely reason. Just doing a casual search will find similar units around that price, some even higher, but most importantly several in the 130s and 140s. Owners of course usually focus on the higher figures and what "could be". The reality is that these coaches that you are seeing out there are out there because they haven't sold yet. The actual sold prices are not usually seen because the ads disappear when they are sold. During my time as an RV appraiser that was always my biggest obstacle when discussing appraised values of their coaches. Owners would often show me saved ads of coaches listed higher or the same using that to argue how much their coach was worth. In my mind however all that did was tell me what the coach WASNT worth. Who wants to pay to run an ad for a coach that has already sold?
The other factor is that NADA RV figures are grossly inaccurate, especially in the diesel coach segment. The company I worked for had a database of "sold" figures that I could print out for similar and identical coaches. Made my job a lot easier.

If you could retain it and can use it that is your best option
The prices on cabins, tiny homes, and park models have gone up while RV's, as they typically do, have taken an early hit
We are planning on a significant amount of long-term parking on RV resort lots that cater to long-term or seasonal stays
And staying on an owned RV lot in a community
After that, it probably will stay under the RV canopy for a cabin
As noted, financing it might be an option, with some risk
Purchasing any depreciating asset almost always turns into reality

Simple, it’s not worth you asking price. Market price is determined by what a buyer is willing to pay not what a seller thinks it’s worth.

Sad reality is that the market is collapsing significantly and you’re caught in it. We sold our Newmar for probably 50% less than it would have brought 18 months ago but we took comfort in knowing we got nearly 90% of what we paid for it in 2019. You might clean it up, empty it and take it to a dedicated consignment dealer like PPL. You’ll pay a substantial commission but they can generate better buyer traffic and help buyers with financing. Good luck.

Coming in off the interstate tonight and Cenex (my favorite diesel fuel due to the 7 additives) had dropped diesel a bit to $4.48. Topping the tank off there with my Sam's card to get the 5% back and three swipes at $175 got it high enough to store for a few weeks.
Paying over 500 to top off a tank (with lowered prices) sure isn't going to help the diesel coaches sell right now so that might factor into anyone thinking about it, selling or purchasing
Getting some Onan service in the only large Onan RV generator service center in Wichita KS and looking at their new posted rates it is $171 per hour flat rate, coach/engine/generator plus the usual upcharges for red rags and sweeping compound etc.

I went on three or four websites and the prices run from 169,000 to 229,000

New class A motorhomes are piling up at dealers close to me... especially the large diesel rigs. I'm predicting there will still be 2022 units left on lots in late spring 2023 at fire sale prices. With diesel hovering between $5.50 - $5.90 and interest rates climbing with no relief in sight...
Even diesel class B units have taken a hit... with a $2+ per gallon penalty on fuel not including DEF, it's no surprise. I sincerely hope you get a satisfactory price... but selling that type of rig in today's economy without a huge loss is a big ask.
Unless you REALLY need to sell, maybe consider keeping the rig and use it occasionally?? Otherwise I fear you're going to take a huge hit on a loss.
