Thor 19g

New guy looking for a 19g. Is the 19g only made for Cruise America? Can't seem to find any from private sellers.

Welcome to the forum!
Yes: the 19G was made for CruiseAmerica.
You should look on RVTrader.com.. Every once in a while; one pops up in there.
Happy Hunting!

The Majestic was made for Cruise America, but 19G floor plan was also made under Chateau and Four Winds brands.

The CA Majestic is usually a little different, lacking awning, house entry door glass, and swivel chair replaced by short bench seat.

I’ve always though Thor should have made a slightly longer version with rear twin beds.

I always thought that they filled a significant niche in the marketplace: just the way they were...
The rear kitchen Floorplan is pretty neat!

Could Use Three Extra Feet

Shorter than a 20-ft standard parking space certainly fits into one niche, but popularity of 19G floor plan was limited from the get-go. There must be reasons many buyers passed on this small motorhome.

The compact size and large kitchen are indeed great features, but the 19G is limited to 6.5 cubic feet of outside storage, has a wet bath that is not popular in a Class C, and lacks a bed large enough for a couple to sleep together comfortably. These are potential deal breakers individually, and together limit market appeal.

Adding approximately three feet to length would allow for a more conventional floor plan with Twin/Queen rear beds, large outside storage, and sleeping for up to four. Besides, if owner ends up hanging bikes and or a cargo carrier off the rear as in picture below, it will add nearly three feet to length anyway.

Didn't they call it the 23A?

23A was 5 feet longer — 24’-10” versus 19’-10”.

Thor did manufacture a small Class C (22’-8”) just under 3 feet longer than the 19G which solved problem of wet bath, but only had 6 cubic feet of outside storage and no permanent bed.

Worst part is they added all extra length to rear overhang and kept wheelbase at 138 inches. It seems crazy considering holding tanks are at very rear of coach.

I found occasional for-sales on RV Trader over the last year, and have finally bought a 2009 Four Winds which I will pick up in early April. Some have very high mileage because they are coming off rental fleets, others not. Plug in your search criteria, be patient, and see what comes up - you'll find one.

Oh, check out Colton RV in western NY state. They had a new Tiffin 19g this winter, might still have it. I had corresponded with them for a while, then found the one I ended up with.

RVTrader is currently listing several 2017 19G models for sale.

Very interesting find.

They call it a Tiffin 19TM, and it looks exactly like a motorhome built for Cruise America to rent. There’s no awning, no window in door, and swivel chair is replaced by short bench behind the passenger seat.

Even more interesting was advertising on side of page for other Tiffin motorhomes that just happen to match the three floor plans that Cruise America rents.

If that's a Tiffin : they weren't sold to the public.
Must have been only for the rental market.

It looks like Thor just replaced the “Majestic” brand for “Tiffin Wayfarer”. If I had to guess, it’s either to get a higher price at retail (by using Tiffin brand) or maybe because the Majestic brand is covered under contract with Cruise America.

To me it seems Thor is throwing the Tiffin and Wayfarer names under the bus to some degree.

Not that there is anything wrong with 19G, but these are not the type of motorhomes Tiffin reputation was built on.

The Wayfarers were historically built on the Sprinter chassis.

I found some info on the 19TM
Tiffin teamed up with Adventure America on this project...
... and then Adventure America went out of business!
Colton RV bought up a bunch of these orphans, and are putting them on the market.
It's a 2020 model year only thing.

I don't know how they can get away with this design: it's indistinguishable from a 19G built for Cruise America...

I was thinking about buying a 19G back in 2012 so I rented one from CA and took it camping. It was fun to drive and got decent gas mileage. The two things that dissuaded me were the loft bed. Too difficult to get in and out of if you have to use the bathroom at night and the wet bath. It was very difficult to do number 2 for a big guy like me. So I ended up buying a 23A from CA. I've had it for 9 years now and both my better half and I have enjoyed it immensely.
