My kid lives in Carlisle, NY... figured I could crash at his place while they're laying on the elbow grease!

Anyone use paint thinner to remove wax or poly coat. A rep at polycoat told me that’s what they use on gelcoat

For how long? I knew a guy that put linseed oil on his old VW bug and it brought the color back. In 2 weeks, it was covered with dust and dirt that worked into the oil and washing wouldn't take it off.

Not trying to be a smart a**, just stating the facts!
Read the forums for ANY/ALL of the other manufacturers & youll find countless post about faded gelcoat on ALL of them, it's the nature of the best!
Well, that's how it came off. The thread is all about dulling finish and doesn't make any difference how much the thing costs, it shouldn't dull out in a few years. I park near a full sized newmar that looks like crap since the clear coat has peeled and another entregra (according to you, not entry level) that just pulled in where the caps are as dull as any other thor in the lot. Now the topic is dull paint and what to do about it, not how much do I have to spend on a bus to get some kind of paint that doesn't look like crap in 4 years. DOne and done....

I found a guy in Lake Norman, NC that details boats, most all boats are Gel-Coat. He did the front and back caps, both very oxidized, for $250. Used 3m compound and a wool buffer to cut the dull coat off. First, he sprayed dawn dish soap and water mixture on it, looked like snow and that removed the wax. Anywhere water still beaded he applied more dawn til it did not bead. Compounded it, then used a product called Jescar Power Lock + Plus. It's a polymer sealant and is awesome. Use a random orbital buffer with a foam pad to apply the Jescar and run on low for a while then bump up the speed and when you see it swirling then polish til it clears, then wipe with clean rag 30 minutes later. Mine looks better than when it was new and today after we blew out our water lines and winterized it, I did the front cap just for good measure, Will do the back cap tomorrow. If your not able to do this yourself, find a boat dealership and they will know someone that does gel-coats on boats!! Good Luck; Bob Trice

If what you are shopping for the best spray wax for RV then I am pretty sure that you will be satisfied with the Meguiar’s M5032 One-step Liquid Cleaner Wax: it contains chemical cleaners designed to eliminate minor swirls, light oxidation, scratches, and haze from your marine or RV. Removes stains and debris and deliver long-lasting protection from corrosion, salt air, and the V rays of the sun. It is one of the best wax for gel coat RV as well as fiberglass as it ensures that the materials stay vibrant, crisp, and shiny for a long period of time.

I've read everything that has been posted in this thread but failed to see anything concerning those "cheap decals." Last fall I used the McGuire restoration kit and it turned out pretty good. I intend to do it again this fall after it cools off.

The issue I had was working the compound around the decals, they will swirl in a microsecond. Did anyone that went the compound route find an easy way to keep from getting on the decals. We own a 2015 Vegas that is stored outside but the decals are actually in pretty good shape.
