Traded my 2018 Thor Windsport for a Tiffin Allegro 2018 the difference is night and day. My opinion Thor is very low quality. I hope Tiffin can keep the quality up as they did for years.

Thor has been hamstrung by a workforce that doesn't care, and a company philosophy that pushes production speed over production quality.
I also hope that Tiffin doesn't fall prey to the same issue...

Thor would be the first to tell you that most of their coaches are entry or mid level products. They’ve been very upfront about it for years. Purchasing Tiffin very likely is a practical way for them to enter the higher end of the market. We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Pete,
No need to wait.
The collective here, the ones who weren't buying a Tiffin anyway have now a reason to be just sssllliiigghhhttttlllyyy more off tilt.

They've decided.
Tiffin will become lesser.
Decreed.

I guess so. Thor has gotten its marching orders!

Me too. Might as well be. Life is WAY too short to get upset about things that haven’t happened yet, might never happen and won’t affect most people anyway. Same predictions of disaster happened about Newmar 2 years ago when they were bought by Winnebago. So far “my” brand seems to be holding up ok.

There's reason to hope. Tiffin isn't their only high end brand. They also own Airstream, and haven't driven it into the ground.

Don't you mean, "towed" it into the ground?

Something many folks forget or do not realize is that Thor Motorcoach is one division within Thor Industries. Just because folks perceive there are quality issues (no published quality standards) within the lower end Thor Motorcoach lines that that same issue rolls across all of THOR Industries.

That type of logic is a prime example of a shotgun blast. Keep in mind that Thor Motorcoach and their issues have nothing to do with the operations or management of Tiffin or Jayco. Separate management, separate production lines with different issues.

Don't forget Airstream which has enlarged their factory twice in the past 10 years. When I first toured the factory in Jackson Center in 2002 the were producing 42 trailers per week. I was back with my Grandson in 2018 and the production rate was 76 per week.

And Airstream can easily be considered as a luxury RV.

Very true. I owned a 2003 Keystone Challenger 36TKB 5th Wheel for 16 years. I never had the first issue. Had to replace converter after 14 years. A few vinyl pieces shrunk. It had gutters. My only real beef was they used screws that rusted out in the exterior. I probably replaced a couple hundred over the years. Before that a 32 ft Dutchman TT. Leaked like a sieve. Fridge never worked right. Dog walked down the road. Like Duckie says, buy it and continuously customize it.

He talked about his son's taking over the business, when he was ready to retire. I know he bowed out of the business some years ago, and about a year and a half later jumped back in again. Do not know any details. Having owned both a Tiffin and a Thor, I have some real doubts that Tiffin's QA will be maintained, long term, and Tiffin always stood behind their products, IMO, better and more actively than most, if not all other manufactures. If you as a Tiffin consumer had a warrantee issue, you could get through to, and talk directly to Bob Tiffin, and he would make the final call, which in my experience was predominantly in the customers favor. Parts, too were available to consumers, directly from Tiffin, they did not require that only a dealer could order parts. Its going to be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of years.
Ordering parts directly by the owner may stay. Heartland was purchased by Thor several years ago and you as an owner, used or new, can order parts directly as it was from the beginning of Heartland.
