I recently used Therefore RV toilet seal and conditioner on our MH RV toilet for our seal four days ago and it worked great. The 1/4 cup , 6oz's is still in the toilet bowl . Instructions say to leave in the bowl for 8 hours before flushing , but will do better if left longer. You can buy on Amazon .

Winterizing

Not much RV winterizing going on in Gilbert, Arizona. After 59 years in Western NY, we avoid camping in any cold temperatures.

@ Pete'sMH - I'm unable to copy and paste from Thetford's Toilet FAQ page but they say to NOT use any petroleum-based product to prevent further deterioration. My thinking was like yours but having gone thru the the ball-seal-watervalve-ectomy and subsequent toilet replacement, I've done some reading.

Toilet does not hold water in the bowl

That’s interesting, the OP was on the road and having a problem. If it was me I’d not hesitate to use Vaseline if that’s what I had. Heck, I’d try hair conditioner, hand lotion or lip balm if that’s all I had!

I’m going to replace the Thetford Aqua Magic Style 2 bowl seal
After research, I’ve discovered that the entire toilet must be removed from the floor to access & replace seal.
(With a Dometic toilet, the seal can be easily replaced in seconds from above).

Oh well…

Here’s the parts link:

And putting/leaving some water in the bowl to keep the seal from drying out won't work in Gilbert either. It will evaporate in a few days leaving behind all the salts in our hard water as a crust on the seal. That is probably what caused the problem in the first place. Grease may help, though.

Funny, I did this Thetford Style II seal replacement yesterday on a Thor Vegas 25.2 in the storage lot. Saw a good YouTube and did it in about 20 minutes in the bathroom in the shower. Quick steps I did:

1 - De-pressurize cold water (I used low point drain)
2 - Disconnect water line at back bottom
3 - Unbolt toilet at the base each side with a 1/2" wrench
4 - Lift and set toilet in shower on trash bag with back facing you
5 - Take out 2 bolts holding bowl to base (3/8" ratchet)
6 - Remove one end of large hose with pliers for clamp (base end easiest)
7 - Pivot bowl on base an 1/8 turn, lift and set aside
8 - Remove old seal, clean area, grease new seal, set new seal in base
9 - Remove old flange seal, cleanup toilet flange and set new flange seal (I put it on the toilet with a little grease to hold, easier)
10 - Reverse steps 7 thru 1 above and you are done. Almost took longer to type this than to do :-)

I do not think I saw anyone say anything about making sure the seal track is clear of debris. Put on a pair of rubber gloves, hold the valve open and run your finger around the track. It is very easy to get toilet paper or other stuff stuck in the track especially when you release petal before everything gets down the chute.

When you put the grease on did you find TP and other stuff in the track?

Task complete.
Replaced floor and bowl seal using Amazon parts pack.
Was easier than anticipated.
Thanks to the Forum for all the help.
