What is special about this fuse in my fuse box?

I've never seen a fuse like this and I wonder if there is something special about it? It's marked 5 amps and seems to have a gold, metal case and stand twice as high as the more common plastic fuses

It's an automatically resetting fuse.

And if you bought the coach used, I would venture the previsous owner installed it becuase they had issues with the circuit it is protecting blowing the fuse. Looks like it is controlling the A/C Control Panel.

That fuse would never be used as a stock fuse from the factory. I would install a regualr 5A fuse and then if it blows, start looking for why it is blowing.

Actually looks like position 6 for the LP Detector and skylight shade.

You look to be right. I saw the 5A next to the A/C in that area and didn’t see the 5 CB.

The 5 CB means 5A Circuit Breaker. Im just surprised they would use a resetting circuit breaker fuse as a stock solution.

If there is a problem and the fuse keepz resetting, you would think it wokld be hiding a problem. Either the circuit is close to pulling 5A routinely and the wiring gauge used is borderline or there is annissue causing spikes in current.

It also looks that a label was places over the stock label on yhe power distribution panel so it could still be modification made after production.

If it was me I would be finding out whY should be the stock configuration. You should not need a resettable fuse for that circuit.

What a rabbit hole!

So, I looked at a couple of other pictures I have and this indeed looks like a factory, stock fuse! It's in the position marked "5 CB" which makes sense, as folks have pointed out it's a circuit breaker in an ATC base package. The connected circuit is for "LP Detector/ANT/Skylight Shade" and one could imagine where those circuits could cause a trip (shade, maybe) but needed to be maintained by a CB and not a fuse (LP detector).

Why put those 3 together is still a question

Cooper Bussman appear to have made them, but the 5 amp variety is not currently listed in the catalogs I see and the usuals suspects don't seem to offer a 5 amp version for sale.

Very interesting!

Thanks!

Seems like 5 amp problems need to talk to each other.. https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f8...dly-19189.html

That is an interesting read, and a cliffhanger of a story!

I wonder what happened? Is that why I have a factory CB in that spot?

(I think your motorcycle is fantastic!)

5 CB Fuse

It is not that anything in that circuit is more likely to cause a trip, it is a safety factor to insure that if there is an intermittent trip, the fuse will reset and you will not loose your LP gas detector. Otherwise you may never know the fuse tripped until you notice something else in that circuit isn’t working. Not likely you would notice the green pilot light out on the LP detector. An undetected LP gas leak in an RV is a very bad thing.

I'm trying not to become museum piece.... Guzzi just celebrated their 100th anniversary (March 15th). My neighbor has a 2018... https://www.webbikeworld.com/2021-mo...rcycle-lineup/
