Entry Steps Not Completely Retracting

2021 Thor Aria 4000 - Entry steps are not retracting all the way. Sticking out 4-5 inches after retract stops. I feel they should be flush (or close to it). All other step actions working properly. Are there any adjustments? Thoughts?

Does it make any odd noises when it moves? (clicking, scraping, screeching, etc)

There is a magnet switch (usually on the screen door & the door frame) that sends power to the stair motor to extend or retract the stairs depending on whether the door is open or closed. Make sure that switch lines up when the door is closed.

If something jammed (either on extending or retracting) the gear may have stripped.

Look for something bent in the mechanism. Be careful though, those steps can really hurt if you get a finger in them.

History?

Did they work right before and this symptom just started?

New to you coach and it's been that way since you got it?

Any previous work done on the steps to your knowledge?

Yeah - Coach is new to me and this issue has existed since we got it. Haven't had a chance to look at it further since I posted. I will be checking what others have suggested at first opportunity.

Thanks all for your ideas.

Lube

I had the same thing happen. I just sprayed anything that moved with CRC lubricant and they started working fine.

Thanks RL65. Yeah - I had lubed them initially but didn't help. I hit them again with some different lube and now thay seem to be fine. Time will tell I guess.
