Gemini flat towing

Is there anyone out there that flat tows anything behind a Gemini or compass 23TW,TR,TS? If so, what do you tow? Having a hard time finding a standard trans hatchback,SUV to tow behind our 23TW.

I hate to complicate matters for you...
How much can you actually tow with your TV?
(Not the rating for the hitch?)
We found that with our little Sprinter: the 5000 lb hitch capacity actually turned out to be more like 4200 lbs...
(GCWR minus GVWR)
You'll probably find yourself looking for something smaller than you originally thought...

The GCWR of the 2021 Gemini with the V6 EcoBoost is 15,000 lbs and the GVWR is 11,000 lbs leaving about 4,000 lbs for the toad. That will require a small SUV and none are rated for flat towing.

Older Geminis with the diesel engine are even more limited. A 2020 TW has a GCWR of 13,500 lbs and a GVWR of 10,350 lbs leaving an approximate max toad weight of 3,150 lbs, only enough for a Mini, Fiat 500 or similar.

There are towable cars that will work just fine if you can’t find a suitable SUV. Some of the micro cars are surprisingly comfortable and weigh under 2500 pounds. They have their limitations, of course but I’m glad I made the switch from a Wrangler to a Spark.

Aren't their versions of Ford's Fiesta; that make the "4-down" list?

2021 SUV below the 4000 lb limit and large enough to be in the low to mid 3000 lb range include…Ford Escape Hybrid (nou the non-hybrid), Chevrolet Equinox (but not the GMC twin), Buick Encore GX/Chevrolet Trailblazer twins with 1.3L engine (not the base 1.2L engine or the non-GX Encore which is the prior generation still marketed as an active model.

We did the same thing. Little sparky. Tows great.

Sounds like SUV and "hatchback" are important. You didn't mention if used was an option. There are several that check those boxes if you can find an acceptable used vehicle. You're definitely shoehorned considering weight.

Yes, we purchased a fiat 500 sport. It is a standard and the steering stays unlocked while towing so works excellent. Quite a comfy little car. Pulled the rear seat out for more storage room.

I have 2016 compass tr on Ford transit 3.2 l diesel and I flat tow 2019 ford fiesta automatic. Roadmaster tow bar, base plate with braking system. Key to on, put in neutral, wait for ready then unscrew battery disconnect. I had shop install. Total cost was 5k. I think I could have done a better job with my body shop background. oh well. it tows just fine. I wanted something under 3000 lbs. just the two of us so the car fits our needs.

We have a 2014 fiat 500, standard with non locking steering. It pulls like a dream. Don’t even feel it behind.

We tow a 2015 Subaru Impreza with a manual transmission behind our Compass 23TW. No problems pulling.
